I've stopped going to some venues cause people just chat chat chat all concert long and that was before mobile phones. Beyond me why someone would pay 35$ to see a band and chat over the entire show loud enough to cover them. They must have extraordinary double tasking skills.

To be fair, this isn't a Blackberry problem. It's a cell phone and people problem. I've been to a few concerts where the talking is as loud as the band. It's totally insane.
Although kinda cool - my friend went to see SLEEPERCAR - Jim Ward's new band - from ATDI and Sparta. He played a small club, people talked the whole time so he cut his set short and left. My friend wrote an email to him telling how disappointed he was etc. Jim wrote him back, and told him he was sorry, but people were incredibly rude, he felt bad. So we're meeting him at the next show in the city and having a beer with him. Standup dude.- agreed, although i think it's more of a politeness problem. very few people have manners nowadays.sputnik2

But on the other hand you get those people are complete nerds at concerts who complain about people standing up and dancing...
I was at a Journey / Heart / Cheap Trick in Vegas on Friday night and the fella next my girlfriend was sulking because the people next to him wouldn't sit down...

In otherwords I don't mind people who are into what they're watching / experiencing as long as it doesn't affect others

You know... I dont ever remember seeing it but could you see someone in a movie theater back in the day with one of those big ass brick looking cellphones the always had in Miami Vice episodes?

I don't have a cellphone.
There - I said it.
I am never away from the people that need to know where I am/what I'm thinking/my responses for long enough for my or their lives to be adversely affected, and if I am, then it's because I've deliberately buggered off to be left alone.- I only bought a cellphone because of uni. I rarely use it now. Pay-as-you-go.Jaline

I've got a Virgin cell phone that I use only for very important stuff. It cost me 15$ every 6 weeks approx. No way iam gonna watch if i've got an email while in theatre.... for the love of gawd, can we just live our life out of technologies for some hours, sometimes.

" This mini-orchestra is playing 'Prelude of Carmen' by Bizet when they spot a man on his cell not really paying attention to their music. They decide to teach him a lesson he will never forget - and they gave on-lookers a good laugh as well."

Not having a crackberry or any other type of addictive phone, I honestly couldn't hope to guess what those people are communicating, to whom, and why ?
What does everybody furtively text to each other all the time ?
Is it about me ?- "Don't forget my pack of adult diapers on your way home...Love mom"designbot

i dont have a problem with people using their phone to take photos during a gig - but not film the whole effing thing so all i see in front of me is a bright light and a tiny version of the stage on their screen.
lighting up a cinema must be a bit annoying too hehe.my pet hate though is people talking during a gig.
fair enough having some banter, but not throughout!was at a Tom Mcrae gig a few years back at glasgow uni. i was there with a lass enjoying the guitar/singersongwriter kinda mellow stuff, but there was this bunch of five or six knobs behind us who were falling about all over the place drunk and talking loudly to each other throughout the gig.
i was trying to enjoy the gig but there was no way it was going to happen with their shite going on, the steam was building up inside me, as i loves my music and wanted to enjoy it.
so ... completely out of character for this normally chilled skinny bastard, turns round and grabs one of the guys gives it "will yous lot shut the fuck up!!"i shocked myself at actually having DONE that and instantly awaited some barage back or a bottle on the back of my head lol.
but, nothing.they did shut up and stood watching the rest of the show quietly :)
