I am considering updating my website with an entirely new look and feel after 1 yearof being published. When was the last time that you QBNers updated and created a new website for yourself?

couple months ago. whenever i go to update it i end up tinkering around a bit. i get hardly any work off of my online portfolio, it's all relationship and word of mouth. still a good thing to have though.
- Your "Invisible Children Poster" reminds of my profeesors work.

Your portfolio is quite good, utopian. What is it that you want to change?
I've been wanting to launch one, but have more work than I can handle anyway, so no time.
- Thanks ukit, I wasn't fishing for compliements but thanks, I am just feeling the urge for change.********

I launched it January '06, and only updated it once just to change my age...
yeah, it's been a while (over 2 and half years). i'm starting to get the itch to redo it and put a lot of new work up. wish i had the time though.

thanks utopian!
They chose the power-button/sun logo, but the "strategist" had me do revisions to the sun, so now it has pointy rays (it looks like clip art). And she also decided to take it upon herself to pick the font Eras for the type and also some really childish primary colors. so anyway... what used to be a respectable logo now looks like splatter of piss with a couple of words next to it... but i'll post a jpg tomorrow so y'all can see for yourselves.
how she has the audacity to tell designers how to design is beyond me.

i think if you are asking yourself if you should redesign, you should.

I think your website looks good utopian, doesnt NEED a redesign but if you have time why not?
I hated my site pretty much as soon as I'd finished it and therefore havent updated it really since 2006. When the work dies down I'm going to build a single page folio I think.

Designed my site in 05, converted it to css in 06, haven't done anything with it in quite sometime. I'm starting something else and it may be time to move on.

Designed in 04 built in 05 and have been considering a complete overhall of my ID and site since 07.
So historical data tells me that I should expect to get a new site done by 2010.

If you are going to redesign, maybe load into the work section straight away, and add some navigation for between projects. The angled text on brown doesn't really jive with that clean sparse look.
PS. Those flower photos are beautiful.

i've had a couple that were time-wasters, pics of my cats, etc., never a portfolio site though. it's impressive how much time some people put into them, i envy their focus. i work freelance these days and get by ok without one, so i'm wondering how much of the work you pull in you attribute to your online presence?
- I had a potential job come in on Friday through someone finding me on hereDancer

working on the new one at the moment.

I try to make a new version each year with new works.

utopian, I just had a look at your website didn't knew it was yours.
I saw it some months ago on a french design portal.
It's a really nice one! unless you feel bored with it , a simple update with new works would already be nice to see.

I am trying to clear my commission schedule to do my website. I first did it in 2005, then in 2006 I re-did, but it was a flawed format and execution. Since then I've been plastering additional things to it, attempting to chop it about and generally making it worse and worse every time.
So, 2008 is the next time for me.

I have maybe redesigned my site 3 or 4 times since the current one went live... still haven't found the time or energy to actually build a new one though.
- rson0
I would not bother. Looks fine. But, if you have the time go crazy.

I love your site! Do not change it, just update it with your latest work.

I used to change my design every few months. After going to uni and having a busier job, I updated it once every few years. I didn't have anything up for around 2 years before the current design, which was made last year. I update it every now and then with very minor updates. Nothing significant though. It's more spontaneous.
