He rolled his eyes and rang it up, took my money, gave me change. I stood there and waited. Then the barista called me over to the bar. I reached for it, and he leaned over and locked his eyes with mine, saying “Hey man. What you’re about to do ... that’s really, really Not Okay.”

wait... who's a douchebag? I think the guy behind the counter should be fired for being a retard, although it seems like he was following a "company policy". It's coffee... deal with it. You can preserve what you want when it's in your control, but if the customer wants something and enjoys it, give it to him.
I love how the story seems to have blown up. Pretty damn funny :)

I notice baristas and people who work at Guitar Center can be very similar. Both have jobs where you don't need top notch skill, yet insist on acting like asses. However I doubt anything can top the people who work at Guitar Center, so obnoxious.
I have yet to encounter a barista who really got on my nerves.... although just saying barista pisses me off since it seems they wanted to think of a word like Sommeliers, who study for long periods, and any 16 yr old is considered a "barista" it seems.

i was at a thai restaurant and the person i was with asked for soy sauce. the waiter came back with the chef who asked what she wanted to put soy sauce on and he was there to explain how wrong it was and how insulted he felt
