I think edd-e and a few of you live in and around NY right?
I'm planning a family trip to the city for the end of Oct. I need your help finding a decent hotel in Manhattan. Doesn't need to be major chain.
Clean
Comfortable
Convenient location but doesn't need to be right in the middle of everything.$125 - $175 a night. Probably around 5 or 6 nights.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I stayed here for a couple days last time there... Washington Square Park Hotel, in Greenwich village, right next to the park, nice place and easy to get to and from the subway as well.- That is a nice place..rooms are kinda small though. Don't know about- rates. Haven't been there since the early 90'sTheBlueOne
- ...just checked their website they're in the $250-350 a night range..TheBlueOne
- agree about the rooms. it's nice if you plan on spending most of the day out on the town. good for sleep and shower.sea_sea
- geez, didn't know they went up that much.. ok forget it.sea_sea

Hate to say it but at those price points I think you're going to have a hard time (read next to impossible) finding something decent in Manhattan...you'd be better off looking in New Jersey or Westchester (county N. Of NYC - 35 minute train ride into Manhattan). There's a little hotel down the street from me on 18th that seems very popular with the slumming Eurotrash set..not sure what they charge but I'll dig up a name...
- If you want to stay in NJ, Hilton in Newrak. It is next door to the train to manhattan. also next to the Prudential center.SoulFly

I've stayed in the city for $50/night, but 1) you wouldn't bring your family and 2) you'd probably want to bring a lot of hydrogen peroxide and disinfectant soap. I know someone in Gramercy Park but they've got visitors for the next few months so you'd be out of luck there....
But anyway, good luck.
