I'm about to start a new design for a website.
So I'm setting up margins, grid and stuff.Do you guys have a method or a reason to go with a grid with an even number columns than one with odd number of columns?
I used to work with an odd number of columns (usually 7 or 9) because the space is less boring/static yet balanced, but since i've seen the "Grid systems" Book by Muller-Brockmann
this time I'm trying with an even numbered columns grid.Anyway i'd like to hear your opinions about that.

Thanks phatlee, (i've already downloaded that pdf last week)
I was just wondering if there was a functional reason to have an even numbered cols greed or odd numbered ones. (I know for websites with loads of ads, they set the grid size)

That was NOT a request for tutorials or resources
but... nevermind.

I used to always try to go with an odd number, but lately I've just been making life a little easier overall by going with simpler even numbered grids. I tend to find that once you get down to the nitty gritty of introducing varied and sometimes unpredictable content the great looking uneven grid design can make things more difficult.

On a side note I found a nice little plugin for Photoshop where you can set up grids. Very useful.

I think the grid should depend on how much and what kinds of information you need to include. I don't see how it matters whether it's an even or odd number of columns, either can look good in the hands of a skilled designer.

I recently (finally) got my main account on a grid-based layout for larger ads. I didn't bother with any fancy grid-constructing formula, just worked out the visual proportions I wanted elements to have.
