wow, 2 saturdays!! I think you need to bite your tongue and get the job done. If you wanna make it in the advertising industry you'll need to put MUCH more than the 9-5/mon-fri in!!!!~
Quit moaning or get a bar job.- Are you saying a bar job is easier?
:PJaline - That's one way to look at letting the man walk all over you...NONEIS
- i am insulted that you would even consider getting paid. If you want to make it...cramdesign

josimar sounds like the type of person I was referring to earlier. Thanks for being "that guy" that raises the bar to an absurd level and screws the rest of us over.

look, if you take your job seriously a few weekends and all-nighters here and there are fine. hell you should probably do that without being asked. but when it becomes policy, then there's some serious mismanagement that you're paying for somewhere, IMO.
i've never worked for an agency but this has been my experience in start-ups, new media/e-commerce companies.

That's bullshit, if your boss can't manage his client expectations and deadlines properly he shouldn't be asking people to work on the weekend.
I've never really understood this fascination with the media industry seemingly expecting people to work all hours because "it's the norm".

work something out where you can work from home.
- PIITB0
jamble is 100% right. I dont have any issues with working late in fact I did last night without being ask. but it seems like my boss is making it the norm which i dont appreciate it.
- sputnik20
i agree jamble, but the times i've done it, it was usually legitimate. like when a cosmetics brand we were working with was launching a site for these amateur models, and the day before it was going live one got busted doing things she shouldn't have. they needed her off the site immediately which took some doing, but it was an all-nighter. these things happen.

Totally agree with jamble. What is this addiction to psychotic behavior that infects the ad industry? People within it just sell their souls to this silly crap and develop ulcers. Never understood it.

I didn't mean to come across as a total cunt piitb/designbot, I maybe should have sympathised first... all I meant to say was, to progress, you have to weather a lot, and work VERY hard, then you will reap the rewards, guaranteed. I'm not even thinking about your stupid CD guy... you'll move on.

Hey... Peter. What's Happening...?

So I want to point out that I have worked quite a few weekends in my day, but as to wether or not it's too much to ask, or a matter of taking on too much work, or whatever, I think it ultimately boils down to how well you are compensated by your employer. Compensation is not just your salary, it's all the facets of your status as an employee, so happy hours, deals, insider access, how good is your insurance, everything. In this case, sounds like you don't feel compensated (in general) for the amount of work you are doing, not even factoring in the time you spend on weekends, so before you tell him to fuck off and bail, tell your boss exactly how much $ you need to be OK with having to work 3 weekends in a row (the apparent expectation), you might be surprised by the response...

ask for more money or flexible time. work sat, skip out monday... simple.

Ok heres the update, I told my boss and the traffic manager yesterday that I was going on vacation this weekend with my family so I already had plans made (which is actually true).
So the minute I walk in today the traffic manager starts up with me that this is something I have to do, and advertising is not fun. After telling her that she is rude she begins to tell me no ask me but tell me that I am coming in on saturday. I began to laugh and told her there is no way in hell that I would ever even think of coming in now.
WTF where am I?
