When arranging your wedding day, both do what 'you' want to do. There's nothing worse than being made to feel guilty and being pushed into something.
- Easier said than done, but agreed.Jaline
- You'll regret not doing it your way later if you let yourself get pushed into somethinglocustsloth

yeah man - enjoy it! And make sure everything is planned well in advance so you don't have to worry at the last minute.

planning everything. Just been to mys sister in laws wedding, some things got left to chance and to be honest I think these things messed the day up a bit. For example no one got a drink at reception for ages because they hadn't got official caterers, because of that we also didn't get to eat until 8 o'clock (wedding at 3)!! No one really knew what was going on and no one took charge to tell people. Everyone had a nice time but it could have been better if people had known what was going on.
Just make sure you have someone to organise everything - a good best man or friend who can take charge. You don't want to be worrying about who's got a drink etc on the day.Enjoy yourself - it's one of the best days of your life - truely.
- Best man should have taken control and let everyone know.toe_knee
- yeah i agree someone from the wedding party should of took control but i've been there and done that went to a wedding and had to wait for ages for something to eat wasn't good and it ment people were drinking more and the speaches didn't go wellMoo

i'm in the same 'boat'... so to speak!
hey, we're both fucked! proper fucked!..did you go through
The Nightmare of The Invite yet?- yeah been there done that and had even bigger problems. The major issues have come from the statioary tho had my step mum doing all the invites etc as a wedding gift from her and my dadand then we got an email demanding money to finish it all off told her where to go and then that sparked off bigger things like where my dad was going to be sitting. Now i've had to do all the stationary and dont have my dad being apart of the wedding because of her anyway shit happens and like everyone has said its...Moo

get a characature artist.... good fun when everyone is pissed getting their faces drawn... and a nice momento for your guests to take away. Also, drink 2 stiff drinks before the ceremony, will loosen you up and send you on your way
- cheers toe_knee what a great idea to loosen everyone upMoo

Don't get drunk, wait till you back to hotel.
- Written in a Borat stylemonoboy
- yeah on the fruit juice can't afford to mess anything up like i normally do when i've had a few drinks will be seperated before thr night is over with lolMoo
- shit, get drunk if you want. I think I started drinking about 5 hours before my wedding and everything went fine.Point5
- I still don't like it when people drink too much at a wedding. At least make sure you can handle it.Jaline

spend the money and get a really good DJ....ours was pretty lousy, and since we had an otherwise awesome wedding, that would be the one thing my wife and i regret was cheaping out on the DJ part....also, the 5k or so that it costs for an open bar is completely worth it....keep speaches to an absolute minimum...no one really wants to hear that shit....just make em quick and simple....
- All very valid points, especially the open bar thingy.ian

No novelty dances. Remeber that fucking assmonkey that wanted to do the dance from dirty dancing for his wedding? He got changed into the proper costume and all... and he looked like a tool.
Don't spend unnecessary amounts of cash on novelty items either, I've seen ice sculptures and personalised gift bags and matchbooks and sweets with the guests name on. Its an extra level of pressure on you to produce this crap and its fairly useless.
I was at a wedding in Spain last week and it was really cool, lovely dinner and really nice atmosphere and no silly frills, but everything the couple did was really well thought out. Simple & elegant.
- really well thought out, how exactly? i need advice too!jimzyk
