I spilled a glass of Shiraz on my MacBook Pro and the keyboard doesn't work. This is now the third time this has happened (second on the MacBook Pro).
Awaits golf clap.

I dismantled the computer today, ripped apart the keyboard, and ran it under water. Then dried it, cleaned the rest of the computer and put it all back together again. Still nothing. Everything else is fine, except the superdrive takes a few attempts to accept a disc.
I spilled a cup of tea on my Powerbook a few years back which ruined the trackpad but the keyboard was fine. Then last year some kids spilled a glass of KoolAid on my brand new MacBook Pro which ruined the keyboard and superdrive, costing $700. Now I've just forked out $60 for a spare keyboard on eBay.
If only I'd bought the iSkin for the keyboard like I was going to after the first time, then I wouldn't be in this mess.
My carpet's fucked too.

My wife spilled red wine on hers. It was OK except for the screen. The wine ate-away the coating in a big smear as she wiped it off.

man you can't run electronics under water, if you get stuff like that wet, never turn it on for a few days. Clean it with rubbing alcohol, that will clean it and it evaporates a lot quicker. But you leave it sit for a long time.
I've also heard this (replace phone with computer):
A bag of dry, uncooked rice can save your bacon if you accidentally drop your cellphone in a puddle or some other body of water. If your phone takes a splash, get it out of the water as soon as possible and take out the battery and SIM card (if it has one) immediately.Pat the phone parts as dry as possible with a paper towel and seal them in an airtight container full of dry rice for a day or two. The rice helps draw out the moisture. You can also substitute a desiccant like silica gel packets — which may work even better.
- What do you do with the rice when you’re done?MrOneHundred
- grab some chicken flip that mbp on and over and make a stir fry...joyride

Just use your Macbook as a beverage coaster for now on, enough said.

Well I got my new keyboard, installed it and it works great again!
:D
But my Superdrive won't accept discs so I think it's broken.

My Superdrive won't swallow.

It cost me $550 to replace it last time, the robbing bastards. I might do it myself this time, like I did the keyboard. Looks easy enough.

here's an idea. buy a sippy-cup. it's more than obvious that you're unable to drink correctly.
