Just started at a new job and am working on developing their new website and brand for the company. They are asking me what design methodology i want to use to approach this...
I have many years experience but never used a Design Methodology to develop a brand or a website... am i missing something or have i unwittingly been using one without knowing?!
What design methodology should i use?!

whatever you're comfortable with and what has worked in the past.
ask questions, research, iterate concepts, and pick the best one(s).
and if that doesn't fly, tell them you'll use a "Singleton pattern". that ought to shut them up for while.

just give 'em a timeline and process you'll use. what steps you'll take from the initial briefing phase through to finished project - making special note of their involvement (ie: getting the freakin' content from them as well as approvals etc etc).
- oh, and make up a name for it. call it a 'DCS787er' or some such.airey

Wait a minute...."I have many years experience but never used a Design Methodology to develop a brand or a website"...um...srsly?

Frog has a nice Process, similar to what Jevad posted. Then post the methods you use for each section. Although for what you're doing it's a bit heavy... more of a reference.
http://www.frogdesign.com/proces…So, what methods are you going to use to develop their brand? How will you go about doing it? That's what they are looking for. Will you start with a Brainstorm? Mood boards? Collection of current Brand data (if any)? Brand Audit? Competitor Audit?

- As an information graphic that totally fails. They will spend 1/2 the budget trying to explain itjevad
- works for me... just draw lines and set timescales at key points. it discourages recursive amendmentstrooper
- eh sorry man - didn't realise this was yours. I just found it a bit hard to differentiate - too many coloursjevad
- an honest opinion is worth it dude!trooper

does any one have good reference links of other design studios not just focusing on the web but a holistic visual methodology of how they approach projects??

These methodologies are a bit silly, aren't they?
Discover > Design > Deliver
Mine will blow your mind even more...
Think > Comp Some Stuff Up > Send It To The Client
OMG!

Here is mine:

design methodology aka design method. which is something someone with years of experience, should know by now.

"Methodology" has been used very freely of late. I guess everyone tends to consider what they do very scientific, but most of the time it's not.
It's particularly ridiculous and snobbish when it comes to design.
They probably mean "process" or a description of the phases any concept-to-form job goes through.

"Most of all, I worry about web users. Because, after ten-plus years of commercial web development, they still have a tough time finding what they're looking for, and they still wonder why it's so damned unpleasant to read text on the web — which is what most of them do when they're online."
