He was my favorite political media figure. No matter what side you were on, he would ask the question you didn't want to answer. And he wouldn't let you use Washington speak to get away without answering.
Except with President Bush, where he'd call him on the non-answer three times before moving on, but you can't blame Mr. Russert for that.
Anyway, that sucks.

During election season the Today Show would have him on bright and early and he was always coughing on phlegm. I'm guess he smoked his fair share of cigarettes (though that's a wide guess on my part).

Man, wow, that is really sad. I loved watching Meet The Press on Sundays, and his other shows/involvement. I really think he was the most objective of almost anyone out there. He was a reporter in a sense, asking the questions, and getting answers WITHOUT injecting opinion of his own.
Really will miss him a ton during this presidential campaign. I'm sure he would have been a debate moderator, and it would have been better than anyone else.
