I just paid $4.19 a gallon today in Philly. Over the weekend I met up with a commodities broker, they are forecasting $6- per gallon by the fall of 08. $10- per gallon by 2012.
God Bless America,
George W. Bush
"Commander-in-Chief"- Uh... you know George will be out of office by 2012 right?kona
- Commodities broker?
No.hedge - Reality check: your president, whatever shape or form, doesn't have influence over oil prices and/or speculation.jawks
- That too dude. Jawks is wise beyond his years.kona
- Thank you, jawks, organic just cannot seem to get that through his thick head.hedge
- It's okay though, keep blaming Bush for all your problems.hedge
- I am far from the only person in the world blaming Bush. Global approval rating for Bush: 11%organic_grid
- While I don't know enough about us politics to have an opinion, having a WORLD survey for one ...jawks

wow, I figured it was down everywhere. I noticed that a barrel of oil dropped to $83 just a few days ago.....amazing when you consider it hit around $150/barrel.
Still seems like gas should be way cheaper. I know for a fact in America people are driving less, so at least here, the demand is down.

Talked to a semi-truck driver yesterday and he told me his truck only got 5-7 miles to the gallon!
With diesel prices so high it costs him over $700 to fill up his tank. Pretty crazy.

So what do you all attribute to these insane oil prices?
The increase in demand and the inability to supply enough oil? Is OPEC strategically slowing production?
Demand certainly did not shoot up overnight, so why have oil prices?

- Elaborate, please.designbot
- Oh, and the dollar too.hedge
- did it spike, obee-wan?madirish
- cause the dollar is not tied to oil valuation at alll....... oh wait.madirish
- Well, when numerous people become long of oil, prices inflate.hedge
- 100% speculation. I wrote a long post a while back on the subject but can't seem to find it.jawks
- which is a clear indicator in manufacturing market prices subservient to demand, no? thus, the rub. pretty elementary, really.madirish
