I have a random question. What languages do you know? I was thinking about how you must have an accent with a mix of things.

if you ask for a laptop it's a given you will be expected to take it home and work on it almost nightly. a tower or an imac can save you from that for sure, but, it means when crunch time comes you can't take your laptop home and work a late night from there. so really you gotta weigh out all the pros and cons like that.

after like a week of running you have to remove a cube of dust from it.

Actually a tower is better if your doing any after effects and AV work with a huge screen is best.
if not and its print or web then alternatively you can get a laptop but hook it up to a cinema display.. thats if your work will fork out for that.

Depends what you're using it for. 24" imac with ram maxed out would be fine for web / print work. Anything more, and I would probably go with the MacPro loaded with ram and a cinema display.

Mostly web & Print - some video...

MacPro or older g5 powerpc to be safe. So much more expandable.

I just got a new machine at work here's what I asked for:
2x 2.8 dual core
4 gigs of ram
2x300 @ 1500 rpm HDs
2x ATI radeon 2600 256 video cards
23" apple cinema display.TO be honest it is a little overkill for Photoshop, Illustrator and Flash, but I like it and I'm happy.
- That is gonna be a loud computer with those 15000RPM drives. Fast thoughSeanbot
- it is not that bad. Then again I rock the noise cancelling headphones at work, so I don't hear a damn thingflashbender

I'm on a 15" MBP at home and work w/ a 23" Display. It's fucking heaven, but I'm also tied to it all the time.
I would just get an iMac since the chances of your employer actually ever upgrading RAM or putting in a new HD is slim to null.

Get a laptop Nic. I never thought it was feasible to work 100% on a laptop but at my work that's all we use. I plug into a 23" screen at my desk, but just having the option of fucking off to the library or a park to work and having my computer with me is great.
I never want to be anchored to a desktop ever again.
- you actually work in a library, or did that phrase just fit in right?rafalski

It seem like the new iMacs are good for everything. Have seen many agencies that are doing print, web, and motions use them. the new 3ghz ones
- Yeah. They are pretty ace. Glossy screen aside.Seanbot

no disc drive in those though... right?... don't you have to buy an external super drive?
