I like the pictures. How we’re looking down on them, like they’re bacterium in a microscope. Both infantilising and aggrandising them.
I have no such sentiment. They’re just people... grown men and women. I don’t care. They’re not even lost. They drifted into isolation out of their own volition – how long ago? Probably not even that long ago. Maybe only 500 years when the surrounding civilisations began to decline. Not long, but long enough for the proceeding generations to forget their history. Doesn’t matter, whenever they found themselves cast adrift in the jungle. They’ve inherited their culture, technology, language, religion, arts from continuous contacts with people of the Amazon – the same people who now take their seats in the upper echelons of Brazilian society. Why can’t they? And why are we so self-loathing, why do we think that we are so inherently corrupt that any contact with us will destroy their innocence/ignorance/purity?
You think they’d be stunned to see our world? Rubbish. They’d cope. They’d deal and adapt. Just like we do when our reality is shocked continuously throughout our lives. I’d have em texting in no time. It’s nothing: *they* wont care.
They can’t even explore a few miles out of their “land” to come say hi? Who do these snooty fuckers think they are? I tell you one ecological disaster and *wooosh*, they’re all gone.
Fuck that I say. Send me in with my gat. Man... I’d be like a GOD to them.....

Last thing they need is government ever knowing about them. And vice-versa. The only hope the government is too busy being corrupt to protect them and any trace to them is lost.
Seeing the plane/helicopter is too much for them already. This being publicized like this is a death sentence. Scientists and journalists alike will get a funding boost now to search and inevitably destroy.
Did you know that the most lethal thing that came from Europe to America weren't the Spaniards' swords and guns, but diseases they brought? Even the simple ones, like common cold and flu these civilizations weren't immune to.
The white, blu-eyed legend monster is coming to fulfill the prophecy.

actually, funai has been working with survival for several years now to prevent contact with previously uncontacted tribes.
as described in the press release, the images serve to prove that these people exist, to identify their location and protect them from the perils of contact, the most disastrous of which is generally disease.

The indians see planes all the time, the flights from south america to north america go over the amazon.
I know of people who while walking in the Amazon, farmers and such, have had encounters with these remote tribes, but the indians just walk-way.Although the media loves to say that these have never seem civilization- trust me, the indians are well aware that there is people surrounding them, and they do all they can to avoid them. They hear the stories from other tribes about the dangers...

"[the jungle]...full of obscenity. Nature here is vile and base. I wouldn't see anything erotic here. I see fornication and asphyxiation and choking, fighting for survival and growing and just rotting away. Of course there's a lot of misery, but it's the same misery that's all around us. The trees are in misery, and the birds are in misery. I don't think they sing; they just screech in pain. Taking a close look at what's around us, there is some sort of harmony. It's the harmony of overwhelming and collective murder. But when I say this, I say this all full of admiration for the jungle. It's not that I hate it. I love it. I love it very much. But I love it against my better judgment."

This will be just like the polygamist stuff in Texas; the government will step in just to make sure that people living and doing their own thing aren't getting ass-raped against their own will.
