Last thing they need is government ever knowing about them. And vice-versa. The only hope the government is too busy being corrupt to protect them and any trace to them is lost.
Seeing the plane/helicopter is too much for them already. This being publicized like this is a death sentence. Scientists and journalists alike will get a funding boost now to search and inevitably destroy.
Did you know that the most lethal thing that came from Europe to America weren't the Spaniards' swords and guns, but diseases they brought? Even the simple ones, like common cold and flu these civilizations weren't immune to.
The white, blu-eyed legend monster is coming to fulfill the prophecy.
