It's pretty obvious that you most often would dress up a little, which exactly is my point. But there's a difference whether you show up in a Helvetica tee and a pair of glasses that say "Hi, I work in the creative business" or a suit and a tie, right?
Both can be neat and portray you as a trustworthy person, but the latter is more formal and maybe not portraying "creativity" as such?
You could rock an array of outfits, but the interesting thing is if clients expect a designer to signal certain things, as he/she steps into the room.

Transporting the piano everywhere is a drag though...

I present myself as myself, in work I dress pretty much the way I would outside (which isn't Tshirts and combats and a peak cap anyway) and, call me naive, but I reckon its what I say that they are interested in, not my "image"

i found out recently that an MD was amazed at my brilliant information design skills, considering how i dress.
i was also asked for ID when buying alcohol, and when I said "ah you're sweet, I'm 30", the innocent foreign man behind the counter said "but you dress like a teenager!"
this could all make me paranoid and want to dress more sensibly, but instead it makes me happy that i can surprise people. i think.
as long as they keep employing me and selling me alcohol it's all fine right?

time to go shopping for some sensible clothing vespa? :P
i'm 32 and i still (and always have) worn the same kind of stuff from when i was a skatin teenager.
Hoodies, tees, jeans and skate trainers is what i wear to work.
if its a pitch then i'll put on a shirt.
the only time i've worn a suit is when going to events or my interview for the job here. When some of our more conservative clients first meet me they probably think im a little tink haha. its usually the proj manager thatl wear a suit and me just a shirt. but the work i do is more important than the clothes i wear.
- sensible clothing would ruin my design sensibility. i treat every day like it's a fancy dress day!vespa

it doesn't really matter what you wear, as long as you "rock" it
