iTouch doesnt exist yet. Only the iPod Touch.

I think I may grab one as well. I have a cell phone but I barely use it to be honest, just a few text messages here and there. So I don't really need an iPhone with a data plan (Vancouver, Canada so expensy). But to have the wifi on an iPod seems cool, even for just sitting around the house or on a coffee shop patio or what not. I'll wait until more memory and/or price reduction though and jump in.
Does anyone know if the solio charger works on ipod Touch? Don't see why it wouldn't ...

my gf wants to get me an ipod touch for my bday, should I ask for an iphone instead? I am really afraid of the dependancy a cool gadget like this generates though, everyone I know that has one is constantly checking random shit on it, even during social occasions, this comes from a guy that currently has this phone:
at the same time I think I should ask for this instead for the same price:
and while I know these things (at least on me) generate dependency as well, I can use it for more productive things..

itouch; utouch; wealltouch.
i have a classic - i figured an itouch would get ruined in my pocket.

I finally bought one, a refurbished 16gb. Saved $110.

i think you can set up IMAP, but when i had mine it was set to PUSH, so whatever you have on your mailserver is mirrored on the touch, and if you delete from your touch it won't make a difference to the messages on your computer.
I returned mine because there is no feedback given when you get an email on the device, so unless you check it constantly it's whatever.

I have one, I like it... but admittedly use it primarily as a timing device for my 5 minute 'speed-foos' matches...

tell me people with i-whatevers.
Once you have got your email in from your itouch will it still come in on your computer?
And if the email has been viewed on your mac will the iphone still pull it in no matter what?
What I hate happening is I connect to my email via my phone and all the emails that were not received via the phone come in –i.e a fuck of a lot if you have been using your computer all week... plus all the spam
- your i-whatever will not download your email, it is just an interface for your mail - i use this for gmail and it works great.. not sure how it will handle pop3, excahnge servers etc.poolio
- But can you not send and receive emails from the itouch? just need to know that I don't double up on itouchDancer
- depends on how you set it up, your callrafalski

You do realize checking your email using random public wifi is unsafe and there are free wifi nodes set-up out there by bad guys to steal your passwords?

I have the 16GB touch and it rocks. The battery life is decent, so you can watch movies that are 3 hours long and still have juice left to listen to music. I can't get the iPhone because I have a BlackBerry for work which is my primary phone, so until iPhone supports Outlook, then I have two devices. And I'm okay with that.

And Meeklo, to further answer your question, yes, you can check your E-mail, either with webmail, or the mail app. Yes, the mail app. It's fucking dope.

I like them.
I already have 2 ipods (mini for running and ipod video, which I can't use for running so I don't really use it that much)I have no reason to get it unless both of my ipods explode (or implode, whatever is coolest)
I already feel like a douche for having 2 ipods..

I have the 32GB ipod touch. Waited until there was a decent amount of memory in there.
It's great, can't recommend it enough. I've got all the music I'd want on there plus room for a couple of movies and some simpsons episodes, some holiday snaps and still got a few gig left.
Gmail works really well on it (in it's own app), safari takes a bit of getting used to but works perfectly. The Wifi proves pretty useful sometimes.
Use it all the time, battery life is great, can watch a whole movie and still use it for a day or so.Intrigued to see what apple will announce next though

it's just an iPhone, only without the phone, the EDGE internet, the speaker (needed for a proper Alarm Clock and playback), the mic and the very convenient volume button.
It has the famous scratch-collecting iPod mirror back and the only thing to make it more attractive than the phone is that it's thinner and goes to 32GB while iPhone stops at 16GB now.- do you find the volume control annoying since it's on the screen?i_monk
- Ever think some people don't need the phone feature? It's not like iPod Touch's are collecting dust in stores.2cents
- I'm just saying the physical vol button is really convenient, allowing to adjust without unlocking d screenrafalski

I got one for christmas and I love it!

Ipod touch is really great. I use it all the time, especially now with the mail app. Wifi is great, I use it instead of a laptop while lying in bed on lazy evenings and weekends. Super handy. I strongly recommend.

I'm in Canada and hate Rogers (they have the iPhone contract) to death. No iPhone for me. Besides I'm just looking for an mp3/video/calendar/note/portable drive thing, not another phone.

Apple is to make a big iPhone related announcement on the 9th, might be worth the wait. Last time they doubled the ram for the same price.
