Woo-Hoo. Found out yesterday that I'm going to work out in Singapore for 3.5 weeks at the end of June. Work are flying out a team there to finish off a project for a client based out there. Bring it on! First time I've ever traveled with work, I usually end up going to places like Bolton and Staines...
Anyone know some cools bars/restaurants/places to visit?

do not spit your chewing gum out onto the street like in Newcastle. they will cane your ass.

nice one, I have a mate who was there for 6 months, will try and get the scoop, the shopping is great from what she says, unfortunately the expat scene there is tiring... but if yer there for 3 weeks, you should have a blast!

someone told me that chewing gum was illegal! just pulling my leg? Damn, I hope not, I can't work without chewing gum.

it is illegal.

You can bring it in, you just can't buy it there. Littering (all forms) including chewing gum is really frowned up.

well I guess I won't inadvertently stick my hand in chewing gum because some arse has stuck it under the table in my local pub, like last night.

Its great to buy very cheap high end electronic gear - ipods/laptops/cameras etc etc. I remember an area that had around 30 odd stores all willing to do good deals.
Theres like an adventure park/zoo type place on.... ahh heres the link

Really cheap to eat there but expensive to drink from what I can recall. Like £9 for a bottle of beer I think. Food is great though, some lovely stuff. Its a really safe city, walking around lost at 3 in the morning and got no hassle, but its a very sterile city, very clean, very ordered. Nice place to visit though.

Singapore's the best. Check out the ethnic 'hoods like "little India" and "china town" (pretty awesome temple in Chinatown). There's this night-zoo there that's only open at night that's pretty cool. There's this crazy club district just before the entrance to Sentosa Island. Have fun dude.

It's basically a city in a jungle, the humidity is such a bitch (especially as I'm a scot and not used to anything like it), but at least everywhere (and I mean everywhere) has air-con.

You can also get the ferry from singapore to indonesia, only about 45 mins.

you should really take extra holiday (min 2 weeks) after your work stint and check out the neighboring countries for example you can fly to bali (amazing) from changi airport - only a couple of hours
book through airasia
