these guys cut down 35mm film to 8mm size, as well as sell the cheap stock. So you've got some options.
They do telecine too I think. I've never used them personally.

On this topic. Does anyone know if you can get super 8 processed anywhere in Australia, preferably Melbourne?
- slappy0
Awesome find imnotadesigner (iNad) you have to be stoked with that! I'm sure you can still get 8mm film from a few places online.
Andy, most pro labs should still develop 8mm I think, the process isnt that different to developing 35mm film.

Thanks guys, any clues on processing then transfer to digital?

The best place in the U.S. to develop and process your film to digital.

Owning a super 8 is like vinyl. It will never die out due to nostalgia and a great idea. But it will be harder to find and more expensive to use...
Have fun

Make sure when you send it off to get processed you keep the slips and at least get some sort of insurance, I yards and yards of stuf which cost me lots of money down to London to get processed and it never came back and Kodak couldn't have cared less. :'( and it was good stuff I had policemen doing gang signs it was really good stuff.

i've got one... but it needs cleaned up. batteries were left in it and corroded.
got a projecter too, so don't need to get all the film transferred to digital. which might be handy.
- imnotadesigner0
I wouldnt rely too much on that projector skt, I heard too many things can go wrong, like the the film catching on fire...
slappy - Im totally stoked about it. If I can, Im gonna film parts of my wedding with it...
- yeah, that's just for the porn.********
- then you DEFINITELY dont wanna risk itimnotadesigner
- yeah, that's just for the porn.

back in the day when "director" was the thing to use for all things "new media" or "cd rom", i did a piece for my portfolio which was a mixmash of all the stuff id been working on in and out of college.
one of the interactive pieces was a bit of looping super8 film.
rather than getting it digitised, i got the film developed then scanned it in!! (yes, i know! crazy), making sure it was dead straight then stitched a short few second loop in photoshop.
animated it moving vertically in director then looped it so it looked like the film, was staying stationary and you were seeing animations in each frame of the film.
there was a few variations of the anim across the screen that you could drag about and overlay and they also triggered sound samples.but oh yeah you get lovely results with this film and these cameras.
ive got some amazing footage my grandparents got put onto video a few years back and my mum got it put onto dvd last year.
keep on meaning to use some of the footage which is like from the 50s/60s in germany, russia and poland. everything is so crisp and fresh after being rebuilt after the wars.
