I heard they are getting rid of random homes for the Olympics. Sad.

jevad - already been there last time. The forbidden city doesn't quite seem as cool when there is a small basketball court for the security guards inside. I imagine if no one was there and it didn't have vendors in some areas it would be cooler.
This is my second time. Thus far HK, JPN, and South Korea are winning over Beijing, no question.

rent a bike, some hotels give them to guests. i had a blast when i was there.

Find an ex pat bar and start from there. Get some tips and where to go. After getting used to it, hit some of the locals but always go with someone who can speak the language.
