drgs - considering 10% of population are immigrants, 23% in Oslo area, an immigrant is 8 times more likely to commit a rapedrgs

- "90% are unemployed" This means you don't give them any chance to be a part of your country.dyspl
- it mean they can do nothing else but wash toiletsdrgs

- HAHA have you been the US recently the vast majority of immigrants are washing toilets and doing similar stuffukit

I can see this being a bigger issue in Europe where there is a very defined sense of cultural history that is based at least partly around ethnicity in each country. Unlike the US which has always been a giant melting pot. In the late 1800s there was actually a lot of racial tension in the US among the various white immigrant groups, later immigrants such as the Irish were discriminated against.

@drgs
"foreign background" that just means they aren't Norwegian right?
And if 30.5% were Africans then the majority of those committing rapes were "whites" 69.5%.Your implications are dumb at best. Your problems aren't cultural based, but rather more complicated to pin down on race alone.

Here's the bottom line, throw a small groups of people into a society who have little money, don't speak the language and have trouble finding work and you think they are gonna have trouble fitting in? Of course. If the Africans and Muslims were wealthy and running the government in Norway you think they would be committing crimes in disproportionate numbers? Of course not
- thats the problem isnt it
most of them would rather live on welfare thoughdrgs - Very true, however that is still admitting there is a problem with the immigratnts. Even if there is a true good reason as to why- there still lies a problem.. Which is exactly the reason this topic needs to mature itself and not continue to be a racism debate.
What is your solution to this problem? Curious.zumajoe

Haters, please try to realise how lucky you have been to born and rise in a rich country. You should also realise how hard it is to go in a new country, learn a new language & live in a completely different culture.

"can see this being a bigger issue in Europe where there is a very defined sense of cultural history that is based at least partly around ethnicity in each country. "
not quite. US is a country of immigrants but places like the UK are places of appropriation through immigration too.
This is worth a quick read:

^ very true. i guess what I am pointing to is that smaller European nations such as Norway and Sweden have a very well defined ethnic/ cultural tradition whereas in the US it is more amorphous. In light of that, I can see how it would be even more of a culture shock to see large numbers of immigrants from a completely different culture suddenly try to assimiliate. Not that we don't have those problems here but you get my drift hopefully.

Boris Johnson:
"It is time to reassert British values...That means disposing of the first taboo, and accepting that the problem is Islam. Islam is the problem. To any non-Muslim reader of the Koran, Islamophobia — fear of Islam — seems a natural reaction, and, indeed, exactly what that text is intended to provoke. Judged purely on its scripture — to say nothing of what is preached in the mosques — it is the most viciously sectarian of all religions. The trouble with this disgusting arrogance and condescension is that it is widely supported in Koranic texts, and we look in vain for the enlightened Islamic teachers and preachers who will begin the process of reform. What is going on in these mosques and madrasas? "When is someone going to get 18th century on Islam’s mediaeval ass?"
Why do you think he was elected?

Boris has a distorted view of what Britishness is – he has a misty eyed mythical yearning for good ol’ colonial times.
If you read the article I posted above you'll see that many of the stalwarts of British industry, society, culture, economy are in fact the fruits of immigration/immigrants.
e.g.
"The UK’s history is a story of comings and goings, ideas absorbed and recycled from immigrants that in time become British. Our national religion, after all, traces its roots to the Middle East as does our Royal family. Our language has spread around the world by accommodating hundreds of foreign words. Even our precious gardens, our little patches of domestic bliss, are testimony to foreign influences – rhododendrons from the Himalayas, hebes from New Zealand, hostas from China. The waves of people coming in and out, what they bring and contribute, create and leave behind, are as much a part of British life as the gin and tonic, panto at Christmas, ice cream vans, suits from Moss Bros and the Bank of England.
Each wave of immigration over the last century has been accompanied by a clamour for control that has grown louder, the implication being that immigrants endanger British society. What stands out is the very opposite: how much richer, more creative and innovative Britain has become because of its ability to attract immigrants and absorb what they have to give us. For a society that will depend more and more on innovation, immigrants will be a vital source of dynamism. We shut them out at our peril"

Didn't realize Boris was such a bigoted bastard. In America, if any politician said something like that they would be burnt at the stake. They would definitely not be elected to high office. And I thought you Brits were more liberal than us.
- I did like the Pulp Fiction line though, even if he misquoted itukit

Liberty over equality, my friends. Liberty over equality.
Not all humans are born equally. Why should the playing field be leveled for them?
