Does anyone have a D80 and/or have any thoughts on the camera? I'm looking to pick one up in a week or so.
I need to make the switch to digital finally. I don't have time to develop my own film anymore and getting it processed is, well... I have about 30 rolls of shot film just sitting around my house.

Had the D100, now D300.. the 80 uses alot of the same tech, for a more reasonable price.. v.g overall camera, easy to use and you'll be able to use Nikon lenses from the film cameras as well..
... that said, my D100 I sold with less then 1200 shots fired and all I have used the 300 for is shots of the yard and pup.. Stick with film!
- and no I am not a 'hipster'nicnichols
- d300. *drools improperlyjaylarson

I'm pretty happy with my D80. No real complaints, but then again I'm not a professional photographer by any means.

What's the difference between the D60 and D80? I didn't even realize there was anything in between D40 and D80 until now.

I have the D60 and here's some of the major differences as far as I can tell:
D60: 3 focus points
D80: 9D60: Lens has to have an autofocus motor for AF
D80: can use any autofocus lens for AFI'm sure there's some technology inside thats different but I like the pics I'm taking with a camera body that cost half the price so I'll deal without the upgrades.
- thanks. yeah, the price absolutely appeals! I've been weighing whether to get the D40 or D80.monkeyshine
- D60 is the affordable middle ground.ninjasavant

Just got my D80 (with a battery pack). I love it!
This is my first digital SLR and since I'm not a pro photographer, I felt like the D80 was the way to go. I like it much more than similar Cannons in its price range. It feels sturdier. Biggest advantage (for me) over the D40 & D60 are the 2 dials for shutter and f-stop - as opposed to only 1 dial.
Will post some photos soon.

There's also a newer D40x that is an upgrade from the D40...I'm getting that one.

I've had a d80 and the best prosumer on the market, but its also plenty good enough for pro work as well.

but if you dont think you'll do pro work, then you might as well go for something cheaper if money is an issue.
