Not sure if anyone else is having this problem, but it seems that in the new CS3 when saving out gifs from photoshop, the images are de-saturating more then in previous versions. I know that there is always a little shift in color due to the compressing of the files, but yesterday I was tying to save out gifs and the colors were changing significantly from the actual image. Usually I have to saturate the original file before I save out as a gif, and then compare the compressed file to the original and go from there, but am wondering if you guys have any easier suggestions?
And yes, I am being consistent with profiles and have all my proof options on.
Thanks in advance!

I have this problem all the time so what i do is:
1: open the original file and save as a rgb psd
2: duplicate the layer of the image
3: on the duplicated image adjust levels to make image much darker than the original.
4: Save for web and you'll notice that its now similiar to original image
4: save for web

it desaturates pngs even more.
the only way around it (that i have found) is too just over saturate your image. save it out for web, and then compare the original with the saved for web version. guess and check, and sometimes recheck.although citizen_h's idea sounds like it could work as well.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like we all use a similar process. I have been using the saturating process. It's no crazy hard, but just annoying. Thanks again.

use a adjustment layer, turn off when done
