he can't play guitar at all well and rarely sings a note in tune, you cant call him a musical genius, although some of his lyrics are interesting... but that dont make the dude any good at music.

if pete hadnt got himself fuct up on smack then then Pete and Karl definitely had the potential of being some of the best songwriters of this generation of musicians. Pete is genius but its muffled by the drugs.

Yes, he was intelligent when he was 15. But now he's a drug obsessed idiot. He's not even a proficient musician let alone genius. He's been surrounded by hype which seems to have deafened people to his appalling music.
I just hope that when he dies in the near future that he isn't held up as some kind troubled genius and immortalised like hendrix or cobain.

I rate The Libertines "Up The Bracket" as one of my favorite albums in recent years. I also dig the latest Babyshambles effort - not quite as much, though.
I don't care who he bangs, what drugs he takes, or why he was arrested - just give me the music.

I think the word 'genius' is bandied about a little too often. Hes a smack head who writes songs, can barely sing and play guitar. He just embodies the dangerous side to music, hes got a girlfriend whos a model. The music press love him, so do the tabloids, but he is far far far overrated. For fucks sake Mozart was writing music when he was 3, I'd imagine that more on the side of genius than this skanky fucker.
