"Keys graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School, a prestigious high school in Manhattan, as valedictorian at the age of sixteen in only three years. Although accepted to Columbia University, she decided to drop out and pursue her musical career."

So she's a smart lass who wears a gold AK47 for 'killing them dead'.
Would an intelligent person not realise that, being a role model to a lot of her young fans this is possibly sending out the wrong message and is not not going to help her get her point across?
She's dumb, no matter what qualifications she's got.
- Jaline0
She's dumb in this sense, yes.

bill cosby use to go on about how aids was invented by the government to keep black people and other minorities down...
at some point the conspiracies become reality for them i guess?
- now all he does is insult and try to distance himself from poorer black people... he's pulled a 1807point34

Her music isn't that bad, and she's talented.
However, yes, a lot of these artists pretend like they are from somewhere else. Take Snoop Dogg, for example. Some of them are just from the suburbs and then take on a different role and claim they are "inspiring" younger kids. And they probably are. They are just fake in their way of going about it.

- just me, but wouldn't she get more attention if she was naked? or perhaps balancing a midget in her cooter?7point34
- I don't see the gold AK47 necklace...TheBlueOne

Ignorance at it's finest displayed here over and over, of course ignore the points that she's trying to bring up by saying she's nutty of course she's not saying that the gov created gangsta rap but the environment and climate that the government created that lead to the creation of it, it so funny you guys are quick to judge and post silly statements about things u havent lived through or experienced makes you all quite the experts.
- kinda like saying the gov used rap as a scape goat for what was actualy going on at the time?FallowDeer
- I was going to note this. People can't comment too much if they are not in the industry or in that lifestyle.Jaline
- Do you wear a Gold AK47 for killing them dead?Jimbo82
- I 100% disagree with her statement, where's the proof. Both of those musicians made money off key words that sold albums.Iggyboo

Tupac and Biggie got what they wanted. They lived by the gun and died by the gun. Im pretty sure they both did enough wrong things in their lifetime to deserve an execution.

@TDNAP - If she actually said "the environment and climate that the government created that lead to the creation of gangsta rap" I'd say Right On! However she didn't. She said the government killed Biggie Smalls to shut down his fantastic leadership skills after somehow creating his art form in the first place. Which is, in fact, a bit cuckoo.

listened to chuck d give a lecture once... and he touched upon biggie and tupac. mostly he said that the problem was the record companies were searching these people out and glorifying them to sell records, so you basically had these ignorant kids, who were suddenly given all this money and fame but still acted like the were from the street. they weren't being educated or rehabilitated. they were stupid kids that suddenly had a million dollars. they weren't prophets and they certainly shouldn't have been considered role models. they got killed because of their way of life and no paycheck could have fixed that.
pretty cool lecture actually. i didn't agree with everything he said but it was interesting to hear his opinion

- Although, I don't doubt that someone else's music, no matter what lifestyle they are from, can save your life.Jaline
- only Chuck D can save your life.
sorry. its a fact. power to the people and the beats.exador1 - I also saw Chuck D speak, he talked about " Dumbassification" in america, seriously I think Alicia could use that seminar lol.Iggyboo
- that speach lol.Iggyboo

Hey if she's merely an outlier for other music/media stars getting socially active, awesome. But I wish they wouldn't all come across as crazy so that the media might actually respect an artists' political viewpoints rather than say "Ha, an artist, what do they know, oh they're crazy..." and then cut to a respectable guy like Rush Limbaugh who will make reasonable statements and explain things for the rubes...
- 7point340
i think he was further saying that while the record companies were capitalizing on the gangster image, they weren't totally to blame either since they were simply making money off something that was already there and they weren't capable of controlling or understanding

Man, everyone knows Ice Motherfucking T invented gangster rap.

Regarding Keys' interview in Blender, 50Cent is quoted as saying "It's just not really a bright comment"
When that dude is saying you are dim, you have a problem (called being bat-shit nuts)- True, but can a dumb person really say something intelligent? This is the question...Jaline

A gold ak and a platinum tank....uuuuuhnnn! Lol what a joke, I personally think that you guys are being a to literal with her, we are not all born great orators I think she jus spoke b4 she thought and yes she might be a tad bit crazy.
