Regarding Keys' interview in Blender, 50Cent is quoted as saying "It's just not really a bright comment"
When that dude is saying you are dim, you have a problem (called being bat-shit nuts)- True, but can a dumb person really say something intelligent? This is the question...Jaline

Maybe that was her cry for help, like fuck man i got all this shit going on, this is whats actually fucking me up (being so outspoken)
Give me some magnums, her cd (the song diary on repeat) and she'd be quiet till the next album came out hahahahahahahahahah

....I don't know that much about him though. I just know there are some artists out there who don't entirely have the lifestyle they are famous for "having".
- Jaline0
That's basically what I said in my post above. That he is not a "good" model for younger kids, but that people probably believe he is because of how much money and "success" he has now or is perceived to have.

Umm... Jaline... I'm not very sure that Snoop Dogg is a good example in this particular case. Long Beach, Cali, Crip (the gang that wears blue), drug charges, murder case(s), etc. That's not fabricated. Does he live good now? Yes. Still do stupid things? Yes. Does he also do a lot of positive for the youth? Yes. In his music? No. But regardless, I'd maybe look for someone else to use as an example for this particular case.

That girl can sing sing sing.
Divalicious!

Her music isn't that bad, and she's talented.
However, yes, a lot of these artists pretend like they are from somewhere else. Take Snoop Dogg, for example. Some of them are just from the suburbs and then take on a different role and claim they are "inspiring" younger kids. And they probably are. They are just fake in their way of going about it.

Alicia Keys is 1/2 white and was born and raised in a middle class neighborhood and now "she is black" and "from the hood" give me a break.
She should stick to her day job, singing about nothing...
- That's been her schtick her entire career...TheBlueOne
- Unfortunately it's not cool to be mixed race, intelligent and middle class.Jimbo82

i think he was further saying that while the record companies were capitalizing on the gangster image, they weren't totally to blame either since they were simply making money off something that was already there and they weren't capable of controlling or understanding
- TheBlueOne0
Hey if she's merely an outlier for other music/media stars getting socially active, awesome. But I wish they wouldn't all come across as crazy so that the media might actually respect an artists' political viewpoints rather than say "Ha, an artist, what do they know, oh they're crazy..." and then cut to a respectable guy like Rush Limbaugh who will make reasonable statements and explain things for the rubes...

listened to chuck d give a lecture once... and he touched upon biggie and tupac. mostly he said that the problem was the record companies were searching these people out and glorifying them to sell records, so you basically had these ignorant kids, who were suddenly given all this money and fame but still acted like the were from the street. they weren't being educated or rehabilitated. they were stupid kids that suddenly had a million dollars. they weren't prophets and they certainly shouldn't have been considered role models. they got killed because of their way of life and no paycheck could have fixed that.
pretty cool lecture actually. i didn't agree with everything he said but it was interesting to hear his opinion

- Although, I don't doubt that someone else's music, no matter what lifestyle they are from, can save your life.Jaline
