Work in Progress. What I do when I'm waiting for feedback from clients or for files to save. Its 6ft square (the paper is) and I'm wondering if I should colour it, or leave it black and white. I'm going to put some bold black sans serif hand lettered typography at the bottom like a 1930's poster. Not sure what it will say yet.
Any comments, suggestions about colour?
The image...like it, hate it?
I know its just a big fucking fly not a fancy website, but do your best to sound vaguely interested, even if its just to say its shit.

leave it b/w

wow, nice. Whatever it is. very.

I like it. Looks like a bee reptile thingy.
Hmm...not sure if you should colour it or not. It may stand out more...

I'd love to see it in it's natural colors.

f*ckin sick dude. your work is seriously inspiring and impressive. leave it black and white, and if you're not happy with it i'll buy it off you. i'm always looking for some sick work to hang in my office. i like your style.

i wish my eldest brother hadn't become hooked on drugs. his drawing skills are just as incredible as yours. you are successful while he's been missing for 2 going on 3 years.

Yeah, but some of spooky's work looks like it could be in a comic book. and therefore he should try it out in colour too. Maybe not this particular project (if there are time constraints or something), but it would be interesting to use something to make it stand out even more.

My God, I just got home and thought I;d check in tot see all the bombing. Afetr I posted I thought "how the hell do you expect anyone to offer ffedback on what is essentially a great big fly".. but there it is, lots of feedback, and fortunately all positive.
Thanks. This was my first 'crit' thread. I put it up on a whim. I try to photograph these big pieces as I do them so that some time when I have the spare time I can make a crazy stop-motion animation of me drawing them.
Next time I'll try and put something more 'commentable' up rather than just a big fly. Maybe some of my commercial work, which I hate.
I think I will leave it black and white but subtle, very subtly lay a very very pale translucent blue in the background so the fly stands out. I have been toying with colour. Engine Cat actually looks okay as a balck and white drawing and when the colours on there it looks a bit cartoony and crap.
Black and white it is then.
Thanks!
Appreciate it, you shmaltzy feelgood bastards.PS: Lloyd.. no drugs. Drugs don't suit me at all. Unfortunately real life is very difficult for me to grasp without them. Spent a long time smoking weed a few years back, but not even that since becoming a dad.
Cheers ya gadges.

love it as always Tim!
I'd say go with black and white. But something like bright green eyes could really make this stand out.
- there's too much dead white and althoughthe thing itself reminds me of Frank Stella sculpture it needs at least a color to frame itcapsize
- color to frame it. B/w is too unforgiving for something so fanciful.

Do another one and have one coloured, one black and white. Also can you have it done by 10pm tonight?

I'm not going to massage your crotch like all the other people have in this thread, I'm going to tell it to you like it is.
Yeah!
Um.
I quite like it - I have no idea what 'it' is, or where 'it' stops and background begins, so although I appreciate it in its current form, I'd prefer to see more contrast and colour in there so I can discern it better. Is that a Venus Fly Trap type thing in the background.. or some appendage of the foreground figure?
I could only get away with that initial paragraph by leaving it 'til the end of the first page here to respond.
- Its all part of the fly Det. It will all blend into one. It has venus fly trappy forms in there, but its part of its back.Spookyhome
- Also, I didn't realise how appalling the phot was. I just shot it and left. Will get the RD-1 out and re-shoot it.Spookyhome

why put poster typography on it? devalues artwork immediately.
finish the drawing with/without color... or just leave as is.
start another one, build a collection, frame or hang them professionally, have a show and sell them as original drawings and much more $$$ than a poster with type.
- I have about 20 already. All rolled up behind the easel. I hope to be rich and succesful when I'm dead.Spookyhome
- It would look cool though?doctor
