Samsung 226BW i good if you get one made by Samsung. Otherwise, you can always use the Spyder2 to calipbrate:

Apple cinema display, and get the Spyder dowacky.
I have two Dell's and they both started to go dark on one corner.

i use a samsung at home
one side of the monitor turned green, the other side magenta. so if place my image in the center i can get decent color.
plus the backlight is no longer even. the corners are dark.
to sum up - junk.

And last night i installed the up to date drivers for a computer repair job i did and i was blown away at the resolution of the dell. It totally shit on this samsung syncmaster i have in my living room.

best color reproduction comes from S-IPS panels. NEC has a couple including a widely praised 2490WUXi.
for a decent VA panel you need to look at brands like NEC and Eizo, but they are pricey.more info: check anandtech.com and the excellent LCD thread: http://forums.anandtech.com/mess…

Like Madrish said: Apple's and Dells (at least used to) have the same guts. While Dell has a MUCH better warranty, they look like a guy with a mullet making $15/hr designed it.

Barco's were the shit, too bad they are no longer manufactured.

bar-non best bang for the buck out there:
http://www.a-power.com/product-1…such nice screens. the apples/dells really don't compare at all.
(I've got a dell 2007WFP beside mine...no contest)

Dell has been f*cking up with the big panel switcheroo (as did for example Samsung): they send a nice shiny IPS TFT to reviewers/first batch, then switch to a lesser and cheaper AV panel.
Apple has indeed LG.Philips S-IPS panels inside (though i have read quite a few complaints of users), the only IPS Dell is the 30" screen, the 27 and 24 are Samsung s-PVA panels. And especially the 24" is plagued with problems.

i had dell 24" ultra sharp. work perfectly. i would buy it.

depends on the model. The 2407 is fine, the 2408 has some issues. Better to hold of to later revisions of this model.
