okay, i need some help for one of you mac gurus out there....
I have something weird going on with one of my macs. it appears the mac is constantly hittting return by itself. examples include when i go on to google it keeps clicking the search button and refreshing the page. basically anything that opens on my mac that has a blue highlighted button (like if it says 'do you really want to shutdown', the button auto clicks yes) also, when i click on a file on the desktop it starts blinking. but if i select more than one file it does nothing.
i checked for spyware and found nothing. i changed out the mouse and it still did it.
anyone know what it might be?

I'd start mashing all your keys on your keyboard (seriously). It sounds like one of them is stuck.. like the command or option to return key somewhere.

could be that mac virus called 'dirty keyboard, you sticky fingered bastard'. being going around a few years now.
i'm just sure that a programmer is going to spend hours, if not days, nefariously writing a virus that makes the return key activate multiple times. next they'll create one that replaces the capital letter E with a 3 and call it 'the overused cliché virus"...
although, anyone here old enough to remember the 'mac the joker' extensions? stuff like conan the librarian and mitten fingers? gold.

its exactly like the problem 'stupidresponse' pointed out. the problem is on a mac mini which i don't use but on weekends.
i'm going to switch out keyboards and see if that helps. i might smash the old one, just to let the other keyboards know i'm pissed.
thx.

Are you using a wireless keyboard? Your batteries may be dying.
- MindFuse0
no, its a regular keyboard. same with the mouse.
- then im no help. I had a similar thing happen to me this morning and it was the batteries.ninjasavant

nope, its happening in safari, too. i'm thinking it must be the sticky key syndrome. i held down the return key on my mbp and it did the same things the mini did.
some of those hacks on lifehacker are great. thx, elee!
