I'm in twisted / hopeless endings as well.
Some may think The Others didn't have an ending like that, but I found it to be particularly creepy.
- It was very creepy but don't recall the ending seeming too grim. Have you seen 'The Orphanage' yet? Jesus, scary.ian
- I found it to be grim in the psychological sense, but not as much as Memento was depressing.Jaline
- I have The Orphanage. I'm going to find time to watch it soon!Jaline
- The Others didn't even look like it was filmed in Jersey so I don't know why it was based there. Crap film.JerseyRaindog
- I thought it was better than The Sixth Sense.Jaline

...and Ginger Snaps, Dogville, Manderlay, and Memento
- Memento, yeah! Except the beginning is also the end?MrOneHundred

requiem for a dream ftw!
its such a powerful and depressing movie and the ending somehow even tops the rest of it. outsstanding. ive seen it 3 or 4 times and its incredibly hard to watch
i dug children of men, didnt see that as a downer at all... although most of the film itself was depressing i thought the ending was perfect. of course thats how it had to end.

ha ha.. I loved the movie threads.

I liked No Country for Old Men and There Will Be Blood, but for some reason those ones didn't seem as grim as a bunch of other types of films I like. For example, Requiem.

- Never seen it because I wrote it off as a lame snatch wannabee. Worth seeing iyho?

conversely:
movies that you enjoyed until getting to the end, and then you were just pissed at how they ruined an otherwise decent enough movie
signs, or really anything by m. night shlajaljsmalmwepokklmamlan (except 6th sense. dig that one)
- Jaline0
^ disagree. I'm probably the only one who doesn't mind his endings though (although the water part of Signs was weird).
- 7point340
^ i can deal with the whole wicked witch of the west routine... what bothered me obscenely was the fact that they showed the alien... it completely takes away from the suspense when actually see the movie monster, and 'swing away' has got to be the dumbest plot vehicle i have ever witnessed
- chossy0
The mist was bollocks yo!.
blair witch was grim as fuck, I shiteed my self when I watched that film, I shiteed it at event horizon as well :/.
- 7point340
event horizon is great but it has that cheese-ball cliche dream sequence ending... was it all a dream or just the last scene? blah blah
