I couldn't agree with some of you guys more. Yes, humans are destroying the Earth in more ways than one, but what ended the Ice Age... human induced global warming? What melted the Bering Land Bridge 10,000 years ago... Americans and our large SUVs? What caused areas that were hundreds of thousands of years ago a rainforest in the past 10,000 years are now a desert, and vice versa? CO2 from humans? The planet has been changing for millions of years and we're but a small speck of it's existence. And I personally LOVE all the finger-pointing at Americans and our Hummers, as China has quietly slipped into the #1 spot as global polluter. They're still considered to be a developing nation and yet somehow can manage to pull off this...

damn, i'm glad i got out of NYC not too long ago ;)

Personally i like global warming... in the middle of december and january i had a BITCHIN' tan and was always in the beach surrounded by topless hotties... please keep contributing to my noble cause... and gimme more C02

Regardless of global warming, humans need to pollute less. I love it when people take pride in saying "it ain't our fault". Point the finger at China and say "we aren't the worst", what kind of argument is that?
What the fuck difference does it make whether you believe NYC will be under 10 feet of water or your newborn baby's blood is so loaded with mercury he has autism. All of the pollution is bad any way you cut it or slice it. It is like there is a political pushback against what everyone agrees is the right fucking thing to do but for different reasons.
- Congratulations, you have successfully missed my point. What flavor sucker would you like as your prize?********
- who was talking to you?mrdobolina
- What are you 8? You haven't posted in this thread until after I did, then you directly referenced pieces of my post.********
- Are you for real dude?********
- So you agree pollution is bad but want to fight about it? Insulting me won't change that.mrdobolina
- Congratulations, you have successfully missed my point. What flavor sucker would you like as your prize?

I always used to think it was all bullshit till I read this:
http://www.amazon.com/Revenge-Ga…
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol…
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The…What I quite liked about it was that this dude has been writing about it since the early 70's and now he wrote it as a last book at the age of 85, a kind of before I fuck off here's some advice. not your usual sandle wearing bollocks but more practical. Like why are people against nuclear power when its the best current available option to stop climate change. And why are we building wind farms when if the climate changes theres a good chance the windy places wont be windy.
All good practical advice.
I'm converted
- I'm all for nuclear, France has been doing it forever, but some fuckhead in the US probably doesn't want to follow france's lead.mrdobolina
- leadmrdobolina
- +1 on new nuclear technologies.TheBlueOne
- seems to me the only real way.mrdobolina
- Nice kezza. I'm all for it. I was driving the other day and passed a semi hauling a blade... it was impressive.********
- I meant that last part as a 'oh, and speaking off windfarms...'********

Global Warming? - that is so 1990's...
It's called 'Climate Change' now (which is of course what climate is/does), watch this.

let's drop back 34 years again... :)

do something, instead of bitching or complain. i'm sure you know most of the things you can do.
- mrdobolina0
Just don't find yourself defending pollution, because that is what many times happens when you fight against doing something about global warming.
- defending pollution? who's done that?... and there's NOTHING TO DO about Global Warming...PonyBoy
- it's now called CLIMATE CHANGE you ninny!!! :DPonyBoy
- didn't say you did.mrdobolina

Who is defending pollution? Have I missed someone standing at a podium giving a speech FOR pollution, and after they're done everyone stands up and applauds them as they've given a great speech defending pollution? Have I missed the "Honk if you love pollution" bumper stickers?
- quit trying to fight me, fuckhead.mrdobolina
- who was talking to you?********
- see what I did there mrdobolina. It was obvious above you were talking to me, so to prove it to you I just played your little game. Silly isn't it.********

- not sure what you are so angry about.mrdobolina
- Angry? Go back up and read your post to 'us'. I think you have a bit more anger in your voice than I friendo.********
- view the next post. I am still unsure what we disagree on.mrdobolina
- I don't believe I've ever had a conversation with anyone more pig-headed. If you don't see what you did then forget it.********
- wow you want to fight pretty bad, hey?mrdobolina

See, the thing we all agree on is pollution is bad and it should be stopped, slowed down etc. So we can argue the particulars of what pollution causes or we can move forward on the thing we agree on. makes a lot of sense to me.
- I don't think "slowing down" is a solution. We have to rethink the way we do things!monkeyshine
- agreed but no change is going to happen over night or over a decade for that matter.mrdobolina

If suddenly global warming was proven to be just a natural occurence and not a serious threat in the long term? We'd have a lot of scientists/government leaders looking for jobs.
Well, not just scientists and government leaders, the world of business is now eager to flex it's green credentials and has now become a massive selling tool to lure 'socially and ethically conscious consumers'.
Some companies entire output relies on this mantra being proved a reality.
and now M&S are on the bandwagon

I'm not saying any of these are bad products, I'm just saying that we must also be aware that we are be asked to part with our cash and when that happens, there's always a bit of trickery involved
- gramme0
Hear here, stem & somatica. I don't think anyone here denies that global warming is happening and that everyone should do their part to live and consume in an environmentally conscientious way. However, whomever buys the bad science that it's our fault deserves to have their tax dollars plundered by research into a problem we have no control over. If you want to stop global warming, try to find a way to tell the sun to back off. That's the culprit. It'll eventually move away again and the planet will cool off accordingly...you guys watch, in 20 years the global cooling scare a la 1970's will be back in force. We'll look back at charlatans like Al Gore and have ourselves a good chuckle.

does anyone here have actual academic or professional knowledge of these issues?
lots of opinion and conjecture.
- None of us are scientists, can we really be certain? I think it all comes down to who you believe.mrdobolina
- that may be true - on another note. how come you're always getting into scraps? :)lowimpakt
- I'm opinionated and liberal but not a pacifist.mrdobolina

I'm not a scientist by any stretch of the imagination, but I thought the real scientists interviewed by the BBC had it dead on. The show was aired on google video for a while, too bad it's now MIA.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/scie…
http://search.bbc.co.uk/cgi-bin/…See "New global warming theory". I'd trust astronomers in Denmark before I'd trust Al Gore.
