As for cost (as a few people mentioned), I didn't think it was too bad, but I'm used to San Francisco. It certainly wasn't cheap like Beijing, and still more than SF, but not as crazy as I expected. Taxi's will cost you about 7.25USD right when the door closes.... oh, and DO NOT TOUCH TAXI DOORS! They open and close autmatically. Don't yank them around or risk pissing the taxi driver off!
in Shibuya there is a place called Hub bar, which is a pub style bar. Usually will have a lot of forign people, but a good place to find people to party with.
Take pics and share when you return. Hopefully you have a lot of fun!
- ANdif you take a cab, better to have the address writern down by a native for you...TheBlueOne

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government buildings in Shinjuku is open to the public and you can go up to the top floor for a great view around tokyo and mount Fuli in the distance. It's 46 floors up and it's free.

It is near the park hyatt (lost in translation hotel)
Your nephew will be into that I imagine.

Just walk about, it's brilliant all of it. I liked the bit between (excuse the spelling) Shinjuku and Ikebukero which has some wicked shops. All boutiquey like. I remember Ebisu being pretty cool too.
Make sure you hit some Onsen for a bit of naked bathing.
Andon Ryoken is a cool little place to stay. Cheap and oh so wonderfully designed... http://www.andon.co.jp/
Stay somewhere on the circle line:
- Thanks..adding the Andon link rto my bookmarks...TheBlueOne
- yeh can't go wrong with £40 for a room for 2 people. Doesn't get much cheaper than that.kezza_2

Couple of bars I remember too, fuck knows if they were any better than any others but...

http://www.worldsbestbars.com/ci…- I say "aye" to all except the New York bar (unless you plan to do whatever Murray did). The drinks are perfectly mixed, but being slapped with entrance and a tab of 100$ just for getting a drink or two (plus cigarr. Small selection) doesn't make it worthwhile. At least not for me. Hit up another skyscraper (they're all close by their in Shinjuku) less crowded and correctly priced.
Heard there's one that serves drinks in glowing glasses. A review could probably be found here: www.bento.comPeter

Have a blast. You're just in time for hanami (cherry trees and the blossoming thereof); you'll see a fair share of boozed-up knocked-out salarymen who paints each faces with crayons. And me, maybe.
Bring a bunch of small gifts to your J-friends. In return they'd show you secret (and good) finds.

Thanks everyone, I somewhat planned the trip around Hanami and got very lucky. The plan is to hit Yoyogi Park at noon on Sunday for a party sponsored by youtube.
- Call me up that night, I'll be drinking with a bunch of designkids from my old university. It'd be 1-2 stations away from there.Peter
- hi peter, can you email me your number?mrdobolina

TOKYO hand- in Shubuya, big tall building near the station..you will find everything there...( you should have atleast 5 hrs)
Kinokuniya- ( Next building to Tokyo Hand) Massive book store, a heaven for geeks and artists
Harajuku- To see some strange fashion style but if you walk down till the end, cross the main road..behind all the shops ..walk along railway there're more than 40 shops of vintage and unique clothes ( not the strange one tho)Hope this help!

You're there for the annual three-day Kanamara (Iron Phallus) Festival which celebrates the Lord Iron Penis. You're nephew will dig it.
