Every machine I've ever used, including the current (loaded with 4GB Ram) chokes on Adobe apps. There's no rhyme or reason, but PS and Ill choke and spin up the beach ball for minutes at a time. It's painful. In my mind I am throwing my computer out the window, but I've learned to use these moments for coffee refills or bathroom trips. It's beyond ridiculous. Surely, Adobe and Mac will get their shit together someday?

you are doing something fundamentally wrong in setup/permissions of files then, i can assure you.

Developing Flash on a Mac is an absolute pain in the ass. Randomly it will lock up forever, requiring a forcequit, seemingly for no reason (like, clicking on a menu.)
I also encounter a daily bug in Photoshop CS3 where, after using Expose too many times, suddenly my cursor stops appearing completely within the canvas area, requiring a restart.

Flash quits randomly on my XP machine. On my mac it just drops frames while playing now and then but I can live with that. Never had issues with photoshop or Illustrator on my macs.

look of the size of the install these days - its about 5 times what the programs used to be. they must be getting lazy on compression
- well they need you to buy bigger hd's. DON'T YOU SEE? IT'S ALL AN INSIDE JOB!Corvo

Wow. I rarely have problems with any Adobe apps. I am regularly run illustrator, photoshop and dreamweaver on my 2gb Ram macbook.

They run pretty smoothly on my PowerBook G4 1.25MHz w/1.25gb RAM.

get a PC...
for real, my years old P4 2.6mhz with 1gb of RAM runs PS and AE at the same time like a charm.
