First time for everything. Any ideas, thoughts, hatred for the direction this mark is going...
It's for a friends home construction/remodeling.
Thanks.

Says delicate/fragile; not something I'd want out of a builder.

post a jpg?
Not sure if your name has anything to do with Captain Ron the movie.... but if it does, that movie RULES! I was on set when they shot the Cuba part and got Martin Short's autograph (I was 11). That wasn't Cuba either... it was Puerto Rico and right down the hill from my house.
- i used to have this truck that I would captain all my drunk friends around in. martin rules!capn_ron

I think that you are on to something using the white space in the "a" to create a leaf. You should play with this concept a bit more because something about the stem is off-putting. And the "builders" face is rough. You've got a good start though. *slaps butt
- capn_ron0
That's the idea that keeps popping out at me too. I am going to start pushing that direction with some stronger leaves and more powerful colors. Thanks.

Where's the reference to Poland, butt cracks, The Sun and weak cups of tea? I guess this is not a British company then.
- Complexfruit0
Taking away the stem, will make it less delicate. Out of the choices I prefer the very bottom left, none of the leaves are working for me though.

Who is your friend targeting with the business? If it's rich families with stay at home moms who admire the attention to detail. Delicate isn't a bad thing. Right? and the one with the leaf going through the white space on the "a" seemed really refreshing and trendy which could be on par with who your friend is targeting.

Develop your mark more until you have the feel you want down and then take a look at your typeface. I'm no fan of what you have now I think it needs to be something with more thick and thins.... a little more organic. or when it comes to the type... Draw that shit! Good luck... have fun

well, comments like it looks to delicate for a construction are
narrowminded and thats why all these companies have the same kind of logos, but what i would do is that the imagemark and the logotype apart, stylize the imagemark more, so it becomes a modular
logo wich you can apply on a lot of declinations.
i just did this one for a industrial/ petrochemic constuctrion company btw- hi there tank well done!Luuk
- that is a good looking portfolio addition there.capn_ron

More about the company would help. What do they build?
- Luuk0
I'd try to work on the ones where the leaf is not in but next to the type, since it makes the entire logo stronger as a whole. Plus you create a whole lot more space for yourself to play with the leaf or whatever illustration you might use. And I wouldn't use just green; the name and illustration of the leaf do the trick. Don't overdo it! Good luck

They build custom homes in North Carolina. They also do remodels for existing homes. Pretty expensive stuff. They are the kind of builders that are more detailed than the box home builder.
These comments are really assisting me come up with other ideas. Thanks.

i was gonna say leafs are trendy but wtf ya gonna do

Could you describe the model demographic more? Like they focusing on young rich? urban Saavy? You know? A cowboy family is going to be different than a Urban Socialite Family. I don't know think about that a bit and let these clues inform your creative direction.
- "like they" wow I'm getting so excited I am starting to do my "Ghetto" talk. o.Ounivers

It is mostly for families that have enough money to build second/vacation homes in costal North Carolina. These people are really well off and are building most of their houses on areas around Cape Fear. Really nice homes with land. The Homes they build are all smart homes that they can control from their first homes.

Most seem to say "I am going to build you a nice set of ballet shoes."

Detail work doesn't have to mean delicate or fragile, and the opposite of delicate/fragile isn't blocky faux-steel/concrete meatheadedness, tank.
