Needs more gaussian blur.

It's for a music magazine/promotion company
- Jaline0
I like it, but I could never tell what the company does. I wouldn't link it to music, that's for sure.
What are the four bubbles for? The "notions" part?
- Jaline0
...since all four of the bubbles put together could potentially be a thought bubble.
- ukit0
That's what I was thinking, it looks like a thought bubble

If you're set on this concept, I think it has potential. I wonder how it would look with a slightly more handdrawn feel.
- wendog0
I agree with hand drawn - It looks like you just typed it out in photoshop, added some spheres, and made a mask and put a texture over it...Try to approach the typography as a separate element first, and make that interesting...Then if necessary, add other design elements and textures. Hope that helps, and good start!

Yeh, the notions part. It's a promotions company with a rather scatty/eclectic direction, Dan Deacon, Baby Dee or Anthony and the Johnsons would be the target bookings.

for me, the giant bubble above the entire logo is way too big. seems out of place.
i think if there were a more hand-drawn feel, as mentioned that'd be dope. maybe even an upward bend in the logo to compliment the motion of the thought bubbles. the O in foggy could be a bit larger too...

This is all really good, exactly what I neededto take this sketch to a logo, see you all in a week

i like the idea.
i don't like the missing counterspaces. especially within the second O in notions as it detracts from the mark you've created inside the name. the typeface is an odd choice since it rings very clear and concise and not the least bit foggy. it feels like you chose the font in order to make it look modern. your lines are too clean and the kerning isn't very crafted. the spacing between the bubbles needs to be worked out as well. i do like the way you've treated it at the bottom though.
whether it reads music or not doesn't mean much to me. the logo is looking distinct and the branding can clear up the message of the mark. imo you don't have to say everything in one image. a simple tagline will do.
i think this could be made much more simple and not so 'get it, yeah? get it .. thought bubble .. notions' (as jaline so aptly picked up on)

Thanks _salisae_ , I think you've nailled alot of the issues I have with this brand, my client wants this to be loud and easily 'gotten' my treatment at the bottom is my working compromise. but that first paragraph you gave me is of real value, I'm reading slowley and many times.

It seems a bit too crisp for a name like foggy notions

- i think just making all the circles irregular would be a better alternative. no need to bring a fade, blur, gradient, etc.... into it.
