I have heard of him, read some short stories (metamorphosis and others) and drank a coffee in the coffee house in prague where he supposedely wrote some of his stories.
the only thing I needed to google there was the word 'supposedely'

That's similar to how it is at my office. I had to explain Jonestown and Jim Jones the other day. To 45 year olds. Thank god I work from home 3 days a week.

he is common knowledge as of like second/third year liberal arts degree. nevermind the fact that his work had a pretty definable stamp on compemorary culture...how often is the word 'Kafkaesque' used in film/tv these days?
