redundant that if you were alive last year you'd know this. why didn't this come out around new year's? seems kind of stupid to come out in March...only sayin...

Criteria for the faces was that they needed to be released within the 2007 calendar year - right up to and including Dec. 31, 2007. Then it takes time to contact the community, get the reviews and do all of the coordination - which takes a lot of time - and Stephen does it in what I imagine is his out-of-work hours. You would also notice the TDC releasing their awards for last year around this time as well, given similar constraints.
