Oooooh - finally!
But $800?!

not me. it doesn't have an range finder to look through. i'm saving for something more. i need zoom range.

this dumb ass intro is really pissing me off
but ya, seems cool.. weeee! i love cameras.

For that kind of money they could have put in a better lens then just F4 - if it was a 28mm/F2.8 I would want one!

I don't mind that it doesn't have zoom. I use a fixed lens mostly anyway. Would be perfect to be able to take everywhere where I can't be bothered to take my dslr.

I´m probably going to buy one..... Eventhough I just bought the new Ricoh GR Digital 2. Great camera when you shoot in RAW, but terrible in JPG!!!!
- love to see some of your ricoh picsdanthon
- give my your mail, and I´ll e-mail you a sample....
muggieramadani - Great camera in raw? Isn't the buffer time pretty bad still?pom

I was just looking at a sample of an 800 iso shot--it looked surprisingly noisy... but it does sound like a pretty cool camera

The intro on the site kept me from finding out anything about the actual camera.
Nice job Sigma!

interesting camera.
in the days of film there were a number of 35mm "range finder" cameras. these cameras were small, light and very quiet. also known for having very fast and very sharp lens.
i'm not sure what to make of this camera. its fixed lens makes this one more of a novelty than a tool.
- why? I use fixed lenses on almost all my cameras, 28mm is fine for lots of people...bolus
- .... you could always step forward instead of zoomingbolus
- also, don't listen to me, I have never owned a digital camerabolus
- stepping forward and using a longer lens produce different resultssikma
- Also doesn't help when standing on the edge of a cliff.czawada
- if you're purposely going to be shooting long distances, this camera isn't what that's intended for. take your dslrephix
- yeah, but isn't that all quite obvious......bolus

two full res target images.

iso 800 + f/4 = all pros of having 35mm sensor gone
- Agreed.
The DP1 does not have a 35mm sensor, it has the same size sensor used in like, your D40s/XTis.omgitsacamera
- Agreed.

I think I'm gonna pick up this baby tomorrow. Still contemplating. $850 USD.

I'm sure fairly soon some other companies will be coming out with similar devices - and ones without an f4 lens. I'd wait for those.

get the sigma! no one will be using the same photo sensor, that's the main reason to buy one of these cameras.

Sigma has announced a series of firmware and software updates for its Foveon-based cameras. The update to its Photo Pro software (for both Mac and Windows), corrects the green tint that could appear at the corner of some DP1 images.....
IMHO they're using a firmware upgrade to try to hide the fact the lens on this camera has HUGE chromatic aberration problems. this camera is a lemon
