Plus, it you are a real pro, you cover logo and model symbol on your camera, I hear this is a good anti-theft solution.
Actually, this way potential thief knows yours must be really expensive..

if your a real pro - you don't give a shit what system you use

If you're a real pro you get someone else to choose, buy and shoot for you

Brand aside. I just love how FAST and usable SLRs are getting... no longer weighed down by batteries, waiting for the buffer to clear.

well said danthon, DSLRs are the best thing since sliced bread and none of you can persuade me otherwise.
i've taken 25k photos on a Nikon D50 and a D80 over the last 2 years, i can safely say i have never had any problem with either camera or any lenses i have (combination of nikon and sigma) the nikon build quality is superb, their cameras feel like really good kit when handled, the menu systems are decent and all controls are very well placed. I'd recommend them to anyone investing in an SLR.
i've used both canon and nikon, a canon 30D when i traded with a photographer friend for an afternoon, if you're bothered the nikons make a proper shutter sound unlike the canon cameras which make a petty sound similar to a matchstick snapping - ie it sucks.

I personally like Nikon's handling. I am a bit bias toward Nikon because I used to shoot with a Nikon FA before I got a DSLR.
In general, I became a sloppy photographer because I know I can edit quite a bit in post production shooting RAW.
