I dont consider myself an artist or a perfectionist. If I was I would never get paid. I try and make things look as good as possible within the bounds of the clients restrictions.

"Particular" people are really annoying. Its a matter of taste it seems. I admire me some particularity without the snobbery.

I've found designers get caught in concept land trying to achieve perfection, but can lack business sense to cut and get something out.

Thats why designers generally gladly leave business to the business minded. I know it leaves me feeling dirty.

Although I find designers who can't see the business side well are/may not be as effective.
Note I come from corporate software background, not agency, so that does have weight on my mindset.

not a perfectionist, used to be but it's not compatible with the world I work in. Pragmatist is probably closer.
Certainly not an artist. Artists would have a hard time doing what I do and would probably be infuriatingly shit at it and prissy about it to boot.

I'm a perfectionist and it's one of my best and worst characteristics. It's not limited to my design work though, which gets a bit annoying. Since I graduated though I've learnt to bite my tongue and deal with it.

I do, however, have a burning need to arrange and group of coins handy into stacks from large to small and make sure all objects on any table directly in front of me are exactly arranged in parallel to each other. I'm not bothered about ordering them by size though, I'm not a crazy person

I also have to adjust brightness and contrast in ps in incriments of no less than 5.

I go through a tonne of bars of soap too. 5 or 6 a wash.

particular doesn't mean snobby, just that they have a clearer vision, set high standards for their work and take pride in it. i certainly don't mean overly fussy types with rods up their arses.
