it does need some work. close, but not quite there yet. i wouldn't add italicized efs if i were you. italicized letters add angles too your design, unless of course they are well placed and meshed with the rest of the logo. i enjoyed the flow through the ligatures in the first logo better however. i think thicker strokes would be nice where the e meets the c? best luck - keep at it.
