Often times people in charge forget what it was like to once be starting out in a field of work.
If you tell the kid it's because of his work when in fact it isn't, that's just plain mean. Don't be a coward. Put yourself in his shoes.

AT - you need to step up and be honest and truthful about what you need to do. Don't be a coward and, certainly do everything you can for the lad so he can make this an opportunity instead of a detriment.
