doing work on your own time is fine. you call it "personal work".
slapping shitty product shots from someone else on a canvas and tossing an effect, then called it a "pitch" to some giant company? thats a petty, retarded, transparent lie that makes you look like a naive dumbass.

have students stopped doing posters where they break a word into its phonetic elements yet?

bedroom dj. are you trying to come on to me?

This is standard practice for design students. Its encouraged by professors. In fact, its part of the curriculum, to take existing companies and rebrand them, make new ad campaigns for them, etc...
So, I'm gonna have to dissagree with you here. The work is really not that bad either, I've certainly seen worse.
- ive seen worse too. but ive also seen way better on geocities.vague

I think its also worth mentioning that some of the most impressive and conceptual work that I have ever seen comes from students working on fictitious projects.
If you don't believe me then just go by a few copies of cmyk.

everyone has to start somewhere. no one just wakes up one morning and is a fantastic designer. it takes time. it takes mentors. it takes successes. it takes failures. again, everyone has to start somewhere.

reminds me of the type of work I was producing when I was back in college.....actually....it's probably better than the work I was producing back then.
I developed my own style and aesthetic by copying what was out there first. You need to practice, look at, and create a lot of designs before you start to come into your own...so to speak.
Looks like this kid is still learning so give him a break.

It's not bad form as much as it is a waste of time. It isn't like this person/company is established in any way, so why bother railing on one company? It would have been a more compelling argument if you had gathered up a bunch of similar sites. Then you might have a point. But anyway, it's your time!
