Is it just me and my shonky browser or is this site all a bit mushed up in the upper portion?
- Samush0
looks fine here - FF2 on OS X
- lvl_130
just you.
well, maybe not, but it looks fine for me - xp ie
- jamble0
FF/XP the "we do 3 things" disappears beneath the navigation so I can't tell what the 3 things are.
- Same for me, plus, the horizontal line of clinks don't work (Our People etc)********

The Nav just doesn't work for me, unless I am missing something.
p.s I love R&D's work

I was at college with Rob of R&D and we were both at Newell&Sorrell too. I tell you what, when I stopped working in design I was really truly sick to the back teeth of it. Since I came along to QBN though, I'm beginning to want to do a bit of simple classic design work again.
- sick of this? "We do three things: create new brands, rejuvenate tired brands and design special branding projects. We get under the skin of the organisations we work with to discover what is true and what is differentiating. We boil it down to its simplest form and then communicate it brilliantly. We are proud of the bottom line results we have achieved for our clients and of the many awards we have won for them. We can do it for you too."********

All good in Safari too

Okay, so what are the three things they do then... because I can't see it in Safari or IE...
- lvl_130
looks fine in safari osx
the nav doesn't work in any (except the "getting in touch" link)
- jamble0
Was it designed on a mac and only tested in safari?
- Hullrobbie0
Can we all stop talking about me behind my back please. The nav doesn't work because we haven't written the copy yet (hmm) - but try the Case Studies, which do work. We rushed it out to impress a potential client - what can I say! And without SIFR, the type looks awful. Problems. Problems. Problems. We've got our web agency on the case. It'll be sorted soon. But we've got them busy on a load of client work, so, guess what... Glad you like the work though. ;-) R
PS Think it was tested in Opera, where it looks Beaut!

why use SIFR? why not images set as a BG image inthe H1 tag and offset the real copy...?
- Because then you have to make each header as a gif, separately, or employ some elaborate gd/php solution. imo.detritus
- True but if you have a set number of headers it gets rid of the flash issue.Dancer
- I dunno, the flash issue probably doesn't affect their demographic. Besides, sIFR's easy and works well...detritus
- Hullrobbie0
Novel. How does that work with Search Engines? Do they still pick up the copy? Plus, SIFR is really useful for live copy. We tinker too much with our copy to be arsed with making graphics every time. Good tip though.
- menos0
looks good. osx/camino
- Dancer0
I guess if you have a number of headers and they look to increase then and change then sIFR is the only way.
Yes they are picked up by Search Engines.

ive heard of wonky, but never shonky...

HullRobbie! Hello mate, Its me... I started the thread off. Was checking out your new site and didn't know if it was your site that was shonky or my crusty set-up here at Studiospooky.
How you doing Rob? are you well?
- detritus0
734 - no problem. Actually, if you're interested, ignore the link I posted before and try this one instead.. http://novemberborn.net/sifr3 .
It's the implementation the guys at R&D&Co use, which offers more options than the older versions and appears to integrate into code a bit easier too.
- yeah i was sorta going blind looking at the how to implement stuff.********
- this is nice, but i didnt know how much time i would dedicate to this just to have a couple of nice headers********
- Once you've cracked it, it's very simple to deploy across all your other sites too.detritus
- cool, appreciated********

once you get the code in there it seems quite straight forward afterwards. i've updated their tutorial page to a sexy bradley script, http://www.peterorpete.com/sifr/… nice
