The world does not revolve around designers. If you kids stop for a second to think about it, you would realize there are probably more people in the world who aren't designers, that ones who are.
For what I do, it's absolutely perfect. I read emails, I make presentations, I look at charts and I surf QBN. I could care less about how quick it fucking renders in Photoshop. Just placed an order for one last night, looking forward to it!
- curious, what do you do then? I mean, this is basically a design-related forum. how did you find it?Antonelli
- I agree jawks... not all members of an agency are image makers... you can be creative, but be a...mimeartist
- ...copyrighter, project manager, coder even!mimeartist
- It's simple. He's clearly an Art Director...kalkal
- You left out "schill."mg33
- Art director? Not even close. Hell, I'm not even in the biz.jawks

Sorry, I don't want to read every thread... but correct me if I'm wrong, to install programs you'll need another computer in the same room that DOES have an optical drive? Or pay $99 for a portable drive?
- correctLlyod
- That's what I think. I could be wrong though. I like the Macbook Air, but this seems like a SHITTY idea to me.Jaline
- no wonder why they were able to make it so thin.Antonelli
- Although, now that I think about it... I've had my iMac for a year & a half and have never had to install a programAntonelli
- True, if you download stuff like I do, the drive isn't needed. But I'd like it for burning things and installing drivers, etc.Jaline
- mimeartist0
Other that ripping to iTunes (hmm... could be a reason there) I very rarely use my drive!
- dskz0
they missed their target audience by 1000$
- Everyone I have talked to liked the price to be around $1300. Then they would "consider" buying it.Jaline
- If it were £800 would be realistic but they're just taking the piss with £1199kalkal
- More like £1000, apple are taken the piss.roundabout
- rafalski0
Apparently you have no idea who the target are.
- dskz0
I have my reasons.

I love and live by Apple, but this new laptop is over priced and is weak. They Fail...
- mrdobolina0
people get so bent about apple, it makes me laugh.
- kalkal0
It makes me laugh how many people want to laugh at the people getting so bent over apple.
You'll be one of us one day. Just you wait.

if any of you "creative" people want to do real work on a laptop for any extended period, you're mental! do you really think they created an entirely new laptop from scratch, included innovative technologies and made a rather large commotion about it without researching what the market wanted. they're not stupid... i hope for their sakes, or they'll be a lot of egg on a lot of faces.

I think it sucks. The price is fucking ridiculous. Maybe if the flash-drive version was £800 I might consider. £2k is an insult. I want a laptop, looks like it's a MacBook after all. Thanks for making my mind up, Apple.

I agree, the Macbook Air should be around £600 as standard without modification/add-ons. When taking specs into account the starting £1,199.00 price tag is crazy, only a moron would buy such hardware at that price.
The Dell XPS M1330 eats n' shits the Macbook Air for price, hardware specifications and in my opinion...even design. It's the better option across all areas.
Apple need to get the finger out and actually think about the consumer that's buying the hardware.

The dell is all well and good, but at the end of the day it may not be built as well as the macbooks (not sure about fragile looking Air) and it runs vista, which means it will be slower by definition. Its a shame you can't do, but putting OS X on the dell would make it worth buying, especially at that price.
- this statement is rife with poor assumptionswrong
- assumptions maybe, but why would anyone use an operating system that tries too hard to be OSX and runs on 70% of main memory when its idling?Samush
- The Dell XPS M1330 is built very well, look at many of the reviews on the net and you'll find it's built with the same material as the Air. As for the vista claim, i like it, runs like a dream on my system.Killer
- mimeartist0
Come on! the dell is a ugly piece of kit... look at it...http://www.jasondunn.com/wp...
- I'd be more concerned about how my apps run, rather than how my system looks.Killer

"We (Jona Bechtolt and Claire L. Evans) excitedly came up with the AirMail idea minutes after we watched Steve Jobs' keynote at Macworld. It's obvious, sure, but we're all about making it happen."
More like... "SHIT... how the fuck will we afford that thing, it's astronomical in price....
you know, I think I have an idea..."
