Hey, quick question... I am redoing my resume, and was wondering how most of you list freelance clients on your resumes. By freelance I really mean side jobs you do here and there.
Do you list each one as an employer, or group them in a special section?
Thanx

each job is sepearate unless you do the same work for all your jobs you can list the points you do and then list the clients. but i would like to see a resume where a person shows off what the ycan do and what sets them apart from everyone else... are you a robot or are you special?? show off your specialities!!!!

youd probably list it as self-employed. then maybe a partial list of some clients? dont know thats a good question

it is a good question.
I would list the most recognizable client names and list the tasks for each project. If I had to list every client I worked for in my 4 years of freelancing my resume will be a novel. So I would stick to the most interesting projects, and of course leave out whatever you dont like that much,

If I list it as self-employment do I list the companies I've worked for, or just the kind of work in general? I do business as an LLC, so I guess
i could just list it as an employer, and go on to explain that
I am the sole employee...?

For my resume, I put it under Work History, or Work, or whatever you named that section where you have the company's you worked for.
I have it titled "2003 - Present Bryant Castro | Orangeglue"
and then a long list with client name and what I did. If there's a link, you could probably squeeze that in the next line. So:
Work History
_ _ 2003 - Present Bryant Castro | Orangeglue
_ _ _ Freelance
_ _ _ _ + Client | Website
_ _ _ _ + Client 2 | Logo
_ _ _ _ + Client 3 | StuffI put _ to equal spaces because I didn't know if this board could handle that.
Test:

I just put self-employed... list a few clients and leave it at that.
Your resume is supposed to be short and to the point - let your portfolio handle the rest of the work (imho)... the less one has to read on a resume the better.

oh, and no company is recognizable. Just local businesses, and friends.

When the time comes, I am going to list it as "self-employed freelance designer/developer". I'll briefly explain the role I played as a freelancer, and link to a few of my favorite projects. That's about it.

I wouldnt go about listing lots of freelance stuff if you've done lots of small jobs... havnt we all? I dont see the point really, unless some of the client are big name/recognisable (as meeklo said earlier). what i have on my resume is freelance work 2001 - 2008 with a brief description on the type of work, whether I colllaborated / worked with others / type of work etc..
essentially this should really be a minor part of your resume anyway, let the work do the... work.... talking.... whatever....
