well discoverireland.ie is a good site to see what this green and wet island has to offer.
Just dont get stuck in temple bar in dublin city centre is a very touristy place and very expensive.
The Guinness brewery in st.james gate near Temple Bar is a really good place to go.
Cork and Galway will be really jamming this time of year and relatively well priced to stay in.

I just went to Galway, Cork and Dublin a few months ago.
First rent a car with GPS - this eliminates headachesIn Galway/Slightly Outside - Cliffs of Mohair (see them from the boat and from up top), Ailwee Caves, Castles, city centre for som good live music and brew. There is also an italian resturant at the end of city center that is cheap and has great pizza.
Cork - Cork is a little more grungy from what i gathered...It's fun to walk around and just discover there. I just chilled and drank beer and ate food all day.
Dublin - Guiness Brewery, Temple Bar, St Stephens Green is a great park

bad time of year to go. It'll be dark and wet and cold

Try and go after April. If you do defo hire a car. Go to Powerscourt, Stay a night in Killkenny and go see the castle and have dinner in Langtons bar. Best pub food every and a great pub. Take the drive from Waterford to Dungarvan along the coast road, Drive the ring of Kerry and try and visit County Clare - The Burren and Cliffs of Mohair, then drive north to Donegal. Dublin is great but its expensve and there's so much more to see in Ireland. Enjoy the Guiness

- I just hate it when people start posts then talk all over them so I usually try to wait a bit before weighing in again.ninjasavant

I finally got the pics up from my trip. Here's a link to my flickr collections. The London Trip and Ireland Trip collections are the ones from the trip. This doesn't include the pictures from my girlfriend's camera in them yet so its missing our first night in Dublin (sorry Rafal, I'll get them up there soon) but everything else is pretty well covered. Have a gander:
