i'm not feeling the new rounder version. even do think its a city car. with its zero air dynamics. hah.

economical schmeconomical. Go with something you'll actuall like to drive
- lvl_130
i like the previous version. they fucked it up rounding out all the corners! now it looks like that chevy hhr.

with the previous model, people have complained about the noise on the highway. the new is supposed to have better aerodynamics to reduce road noise and has more power but that took away from gas mileage.

That has to be one of the ugliest vehicles I've ever seen. Why would you subject yourself to that?
- emokid0
because i rode in one over the weekend and absolutely loved it. for the price and the features offered, it sounds like a great deal plus i do like that its ugly.
- do you like the element? i was actually thinking of getting one of those as well. it's more solid, but more money.lvl_13
- You might like this as well: http://www.edmunds.c…czawada
- the vibe is pretty good. its basically a toyota matrix with a pontiac logo on it.emokid
- lvl, yeah i like the element a lot. but yes, price and gas mileage has been a concern. i drive a lot (about 45 miles/day).emokid
- i think the pontiac vibe is more toyota than the matrix. i heard the vibe is built in japan while the matrix is built in CAsung_konajalinejox
- miles a day) so gas mileage is a big factor in the car that i get. currently i am car-less.emokid

The ford flex is the nicest of the bunch IMO:

- emokid0
that's waaaaaayyyyyyyyy out of my rather modest budget.
- Mimio0
Start test driving other cars. The Flex is really nice but it's 26k +.
Drive the Honda Fit, the VW Rabbit The Mazda 5 etc.

I'm curious about the Xb, but it looks like they just dripped plastic on the outside of the old one.

I own one (2006, older, boxy) and I love it. I commute daily and I don't have any complaints - it gets amazing milege - no window chips. Go buy one - every designer should own one.
- not every designer...there too many of them in NY and there no parking there. lol.akrokdesign

i think the corolla is ugly too. you should get that since it's more economical.
- Mimio0
There's the Nissan Versa too.

those lunch box cars are a joke

My mom has one of the old ones. She liked the square look. It is fun to ride around in an has plenty of space for it's size. I don't know if they are all like this but it drives rough over certain surfaces like the shocks aren't good or something.

My wife's 2 year old Corolla has the least comfortable front seats I've sat in in a while. In there for more than an hour, and my back is killing me. It's an individual thing though. I'm 6'2" - might just be my dimensions. Also, the steering wheel doesn't telescope, so I have to sit really freakin weird when I have to drive that car.
Check out a Mazda 3. Love my hatchback.

My buddy has an old style toaster and he really loves it. He's 6'4" so the headroom and huge windshield was selling point. The newer ones are a little lower, have a little less head clearance. He bitches that they advertised the mpg as 31-35, but he's never gotten better than 30.
If you're looking for fuel economy, maybe wait for this:
http://www.edmunds.com/insidelin…- He said if he wasn't so tall, he'd have gone for the Toyota Yaris.GreedoLives
- the newer XBs aren't slower, they're faster.Antonelli
- lower, not slower, as in head clearanceGreedoLives
