cabo is nice, if you go take a road trip to la paz for the best sunset you will ever sea over the ocean.

well, depends what you want. If you want nice beaches, sunsets, go jet ski, etc. then cancun is nice. I stayed at the Ritz-Carlton.

//There is no best place in mexico to go. Until the president there starts protecting the white man I say let'm starve. Oh wait they'll be part of the union soon so I'm sure they'll be treated the same.
I hear Iran is nice this time of year.

baja california in general is pretty wonderful; if you are looking for not-populated, laid back. if you want urban or resort-y, i would say Puerta Vallarta or even mexico city, but that is a totally diff beast altogether. HUGE city.

The week in quo is the week between Christmas and New Year's Day, 2008-09.
Does that make a difference?

San Miguel de Allende is located in the eastern part of Guanajuato. I haven't been to that part, but I heard its nice & seen some pixs also. :-)
Well for Chrismas and New years, I assume Mexico City (D.F) would be best bet. It would be similar to New York.

It really does depend on what your interested in visiting or doing?
Beach, country or jungle?
**The Mayan Riviera is incredible, it's the Caribbean for gods sake. Playa del Carmen if you want to keep it real.
**Beautiful "San Miguel de Allende" is more of the art/colorful town, very close to Guanajuato another must if your in that area.
**Puerto Vallarta is another beautiful beach/jungle town. :)I just got back from Mexico city, it's cool, but i don't recommend spending your time there. especially if this is your first time in Mexico.
fun times await you... :)

Anywhere in the Quinta Roo area. I'd stay south of Tulum away from the tourism madness that is Cancun and Playa del Carmen, unless you're looking to hang with drunk obnoxious Americans.

well if you want something different from all the tourist traps on the coasts , try taking the train through the northern State of Chihuahua to Creel , great landscapes , canyons, cascades,

oaxaca is a lovely colonial town and you can take a little puddle-jumper out to puerto escondido if you want some beach/surf. i second guanajuato, also a really beautiful place.
i can't bear cancun, but isla mujeres is kinda nice.
