Can anyone give a good comparison between the two cities, aside from the obvious weather difference. I'm 22 (currently live in Denver and a graphic designer) and curious about what MN has to offer in terms of culture, and the creative industry out there. I would be going out there with a job but curious as to how easy it is to find work as well. Oh, and I did cruise thru all other MN posts.

Goodlord...why would you leave Denvah for MN?!
- dunno that i would, more curious I guessdesignisfine
- Personally...I would be bored as shit in MNjevad
- plus good chance for a huge opportunity and a lot of learning in the process. I guess, the possibility of stepping up my work and skilldesignisfine
- good question jevad!jaylarson

i'm from minneapolis and i was in colorado early-mid october. i fell in love with denver. while there are many perks here in minneapolis-st paul, i would rather live in denver. reason: mountains.
we have a decent outdoorsman culture, but nothing compared to colorado. from the people i talk to, it seems like many people living in colorado are not from there. and I think i know the reason, did I mention the mountains?
the DAM is now hosting the AIGA design archives. to me, this says something about the design culture of denver. it is growing and i wanna slice.

Plus me and jevad aren't up there.
- and neither are the San Juansjaylarson
- Who is this Dan Juan you sepak of? He sounds swarthy.JackRyan
- Man, I love that type treatment on your websitedesignisfine
- I think San is Don's cousin...jevad
- skiing here is lame too. 1-5 min runs. yawn. our pow is wet and becomes ice. no good.jaylarson
- Thank you for your comment. You have a lot of really nice work. Don't leave us.JackRyan

i don't get it. ?!?
for what Denver has to offer -- its above average for the average city.
i don't see what MN could offer that Denver can't.
unless you like to icefish - there's like a trillion frozen lakes around MN!i must admit though for a midwestern town MN does have a good hip-hop scene... so does denver/boulder though
- yeah we have more lakes and bigger expanses of water. mn is great. but co is great+jaylarson

jevad has no idea what he is talking about. well, sometimes he does. but if he didn't snowboard i bet he would be sining a different tune. minneapolis as far as city life is 10 to 1 better than denver.
better music, better design, better art, better shows, better food, better lakes, better history, better firms, better jobs.
ahhhh this is going to land me in hot water! i say this in jest...somewhat :D
minneapolis is pretty great though. it really depends on what YOU are looking for.
- denver is a technology hub and a skateboarding mecca. Over 300 days of sunshine - best weather anywhere! A short drive away from some of the most beautiful terrain this country has to offer. an outdoorsman's dream spot. it is also very modern. lightrail, skateparks, clubs, scenes.. i find it nice to be in a city with such a nice backdrop landscape.. beautiful sunsets and colorful seasonsbliznutty
- if you are looking for skateboarding, technology and sunshine you might as well move to orange county! too bad you miss out on culture and city life though :Dlvl_13
- bad you miss out on culture and city life :)
but damn you could have it hot if you were an architectural grad! strip mall heavenlvl_13 - these damn notes! bah!lvl_13
- most people from Orange County move to Denver area too!bliznutty

minneapolis is full of lesbians who hang out at book stores and own cats

lvl_13, you said what i wanted to hear. I want to go where there is a better "scene" so to speak. I really don't care about mountains, or outdoorsy activities-I don't do any of those things. I'm looking for a more urban lifestyle with lots of art, design, music, etc. I'm also looking for more opportunities in design which denver doesn't have a ton of. lvl_13 what are your thoughts about the industry? I would be coming out with a job. But i guess, what are the possibilities of getting work if I were unemployed? pretty easy, fairly hard, or just a matter of who you know.
- there is a decent scene in denver as well... decisions, decisions, decisionsdesignisfine
- colorado has MANY more days of sunshine. good for the spirit.jaylarson

Minneapolis has the Walker Art Center, The Guthrie. ahhh...the home of Prince.

minneapolis is an ad agency town. seriously, you can't throw a rock anywhere in downtown without hitting someone with black glasses and a mac. we also have a pretty cool culture for a midwestern city. lots of things happening. granted, denver is close to the mountains and all, but if you can hop a $350 flight into summit county airport, you're good to go.

i probably know 10+ people from MN who have moved, permanantly to CO, but know ZERO people who have done the reverse. hell, i even know people who have moved from MN to Maine, but not the reverse.
i have spent time in MN and to be honest, outside of a totally selfish reason of wanting to work with/for 2 great design groups who are in MN, see *no* reason why there would be any sort of desire to ever live in MN.
My opinion though, completely.
- jpea0
Damn, my side note didn't fit.
I'd kinda agree, although most of the people I know who have moved to CO from MN have come back. The only ones who didn't come back were sponsored riders and someone going to grad school. Kinda makes sense though...

you can goto mall of america and lose your car
- jaylarson0
traffic currently really sucks here with the main bridge collapsing and all.... our light rail was based off of the one in denver. and it has a long way to go.... but it is cool and useful tho....
- lvl_130
madirish, how much time have you actually spent here in minneapolis? i have spent time in denver, and have basically thought the exact same thing as you (albeit opposite).
- madirish0
whoa- designisfine! do you/did you work for Sukle? one of my best creative professors/mentors ever was the Senior AD there. he ruled.
love the work on meth and water campaigns they did as well.

Minneapolis is my favorite city that i have been to, and i have been a few places
- flashbender0
I feel I have to say something since I live here and all...
I've never been to Denver, so I can't help there, but I can say that Minneapolis is a pretty decent city - good music scene, great food, a decent highbrow art scene, a good "underground" art scene, a great design community always something going on... and the people are attractive too.All in all it is pretty underrated on a national scale.
http://www.globaltravelerusa.com…Only real downside is the weather. This place is comfortable only about 4 months out of the year.
...but having said all that I plan on leaving here in 6 months
