I know several of you have posted on this subject before. I'm posting now to let you know that I now know how it feels. Someone broke into our house today while I was at work and my wife was at the grocery store. Our losses arent that great (about $500 worth of electronics and then some minor shit like an iPod charger) but the feeling just sucks. This dude did it at 2p today; my neighbor even saw him, but thought he was a friend of mine when he saw this guy park right in front of our house and knock on our door. After my neighbor went inside, he went through our side yard gate and jimmy'd the French doors on our back patio. At least he ransack the house. He was fairly clean about the whole thing. I dont know what would have happened if I woulda caught dude doing this...
The kicker about this whole thing? We have home alarm that my wife didnt set when she left the for the store.
Hopefully this will help some of you to be a little more aware and safe this holiday season.

** edit: he didnt ransack the house

Glad nothing serious occurred and that you two are fine. I've never really had this happen to me though, luckily, so I can't comment on the feeling or whatever. But I do know that it may take you some time to get over it. Good luck.

Ugh, so shitty - I mean, they're only material goods, presumably insured, so it doesn't really matter - but that feeling you get, knowing someone's invaded your space like that. It's like a special bubble's burst. I'm sorry to hear it's happened to you.
I'm sure you won't anyway, but don't let your wife's forgetting to set the alarm bother you - shit happens, and there's nothing you can do about sometimes.
Oh, and just in case - change your toothbrushes.
- Jaline0
I mean "get over it" as in "this too shall pass", but it may take some time before you start feeling safe or sleep well. Hope someone catches him...

That fucking sucks. I am sure if that black guy (I assuming he is a guy because he robbed you) saw you, he would never ever think about robbing you, haha.
Glad you and the fam alrite all joking aside homie.
- Point50
HAHA, it was actually some white guy in his late 20s I guess... My neighbor gave a great description. Only thing he didn't get was the license plate number. I'm assuming there's a lot of murders occuring today because we called the cops 4 hours ago so we could file a report and they're pretty much a no-show. Guess there isnt a "unit in the vicinty" like dispatch said.
*sits back and waits for "unit" jokes
- flavorful0
hahahaha, thanks for getting my joke and for the message.

sorry to hear. I know the feeling all too well.
fucking thieves...
- lvl_130
that sucks man! chin up. the most important thing is no one was hurt and nothing of value (sentimental moreso in this case) was stolen.
when i got robbed a few years back, the fuckers ransacked the entire place. every fucking drawer and shelve was just dumped out in everyone's rooms. it looked like a tornado went through the place! needless to say the feeling sucked!
luckily we recovered most of our stuff, but the asshole got away with my roomates $1000 cannondale bike.
fucking thieves!
- Drno0
I fuckn hate thieves,
my sister and I got robbed 4 years ago and the cunt even took the time to pack everything neatly in a box. luckily we lived on the 4th floor and this dumbass couldn't take the fire stair with his loot, so he just left the stereo in front of the windows,we lost lots of things though,
fucking assholes
- xhanubis0
Man that sucks sorry to hear that, I got jacked a two weeks back...fucking crack head, broke into my car and steal my Ipod. and to add insult to injury, he took a shit beside my car and pissed on it.
But I know the dude and when I catch up to him I will give him a couple a kicks on your behalf.
- pkny0
at least your wife wasn't at home when the thief robbed your place.
- mrdobolina0
Damn P5, sorry to hear it. I got hit by some stick-up kids last year. Bummer.
- Point50
thanks for the kind words guys. I truly am happy my wife wasnt home when this asshole was knocking.; who knows what would have happened...
Later last night I notices he took my wedding ring off of my desk and also stole my son's piggy bank. He also took the bag that my iPhone came in; guess he thought he had some holiday loot. Have fun with the empty box fucker!
But seriously, I'm happy that my family is OK and that we still have most of our stuff
- Funny about the iPhone box, but sucks about the other stuff. Glad your family is safe.Jaline
- OSFA0
sorry Point, but that was the male stripper I ordered for you....
- MrOneHundred0
Yeah, that sucks. I got robbed 3 times at the one place.
Second worst thing was discovering, as the days went by, more stuff that was taken.
Worst thing was figuring out much later that it was someone I knew. He returned some stuff he borrowed from me ages ago and included in that stuff was stuff that was taken in the robbery – not lent to him by me. Some of the stuff he returned had a label from a pawn shop on the bottom. He had a drug problem.- did you beat his ass?
OSFA - How I would have loved to, but his girlfriend was a very close friend who had been blinded by his shit. same ’ol.MrOneHundred
- did you beat his ass?
- akrokdesign0
we all want things but at some point, things are not that important, at all. good to hear you all are okey.
- slappy0
Bad time of year for this stuff, Im thinking about buying a ps3 just in case someone does break in they will take that instead of other stuff thats really valuable to me haha.
Does take a while for you to feel a peace again in your home, upping the security a bit with some new locks/window laminates etc can speed up the process as you feel less helpless.
- Security – I just nailed the windows shut.MrOneHundred
- i keep a bad and a morning star in my room, just in case. it does take a while to feel at peace in your place after a robbery though.ross
- bat and morning star, not a bad and a morning star.ross
